One of the major airliners just placed an order for 50 midsized jets from Airbus which is not a US company. With the 737Max still being grounded and the huge black eye and undoubted law suits ahead for Boeing are they too big to fail? Will they need a bail out? How many people will be put out of work if they fail over this? Will the govt. step in to save them or let them go under and leave the workers high and dry?

Yes. Boeing is too big to fail. They are our domestic airline manufacturer market. I very much doubt the government will let them fail due to their importance in a very important and hard to enter market. Just like Airbus is heavily subsidized by European government. We have no choice as a nation but to ensure Boeings success. The airline manufacturing industry isn't easy to enter at all. It takes huge capital and specialized knowledge and skill to compete.

Not only that, but Boeing is a major defense contractor, so there is substantial motivation for the govt. to keep them healthy.
