Doh! ... I was waiting for compensatory picks to be awarded before posting my picks, thinking surely that we'd get one or two ... but since we weren't awarded any I never saw the news that they had been awarded! (shows to go ya how narrow my NFL focus has become!)

Interesting selections, Bob.
I would also like them to go OL in the first round, but I think it might be DT.

I've been saying Stephon Tuitt, but in reading about some of the others many talk about Rashede Hageman (sp) and his freakish athleticism, not to mention he has played both DT and DE.
When I hear that type of description, I can't get past our FO not selecting him if they feel the same way. I haven't seen any articles or heard any talk of them interviewing Hageman, so like their previous drafts he might be high on their radar.

I'll fill in the rest later as I am at work, but here is the start of my selections:

I was pretty good at guessing Holmgren's crew.

The other reason I think it might be DL is to replace Red. Who can play that role who is currently on the team?
Both of the guys Tuitt and Hageman are big bodies like Bryant, but they might have more upfield push than Red had.

Honestly believe the Hawks trade down and pick up additional picks.... I could see them drafting a receiver with their first pick that can be an explosive PR as well.... I would prefer a tackle or guard be the first selection, but won't be ready to jump off a bridge if they don't... Could see a scenario where they trade down garnering a flip of the second round pick to an "early" and while picking up a 3rd and maybe a 5 th.

I think we're all hoping they can trade down for extra picks, but someone has to want to trade up.
We might be set pretty well if a team sees a player they have ranked as mid 1st round still there at 32 and know he will be gone by their 2nd pick so it might work out.

The purpose of this yearly exercise is as if there are no trades by us.
It's what we think will happen, not what we hope.

It would be interesting to see another thread with what posters realistically hope happens.

Trading down IS what I "think" will happen, as opposed to "hope". There will be a QB available in this draft at the end of the first round that a team like Houston, Cleveland, Oakland etc wants to land.... and will want to get back into the first round to select them. I don't "know" it will happen, but it certainly isn't a "hope" either.

I tried to do this three hours ago, but it wouldn't post. So I checked my choices ... and changed one.

All my choices are prefaced by this: If all of my first round choices are gone by #32, they will trade down. And they may trade up or down more than once. So my round selections have soft corners and one of my fifth rounders could end up a third rounder or whatever.

Players with who Hawks staff visited with are marked with a (V), so if there is any angle bet with the Hawks (20% last year), that's good enough.

I'm of the opinion that a guard is the direction we could go in the first round of the draft. There's going to be at least three tackles taken before they get to #32, but guards don't often go very high.

I saw an interview with Sua Filo (sp) on the NFL Network and he seems to have his head on straight.
Apparently he has a mean streak and according to other items I've read is very good at pass blocking as well as getting to the 2nd level.
He might be someone we take if there with our first pick. If the evaluations are correct, he could really strengthen the interior of our OL.

Okung will be a FA after the 2015 season and hasn't been consistently healthy.
2 years for a player to develop as a LT at the NFL level - or at least get some experience so we could judge would be a nice cushion should contract negotiations get difficult.

Oh yeah, and this year, based on feedback from last year;

- Right player = 1 point
- right round = 1 point
- right round + first name on your board for that round = 1 point

So if you get the right player in the right round and he's the player you would have chosen if you were the Schneid there's a potential for 3 points per round.

I know it's a tiresome subject, but it remains relevant because we haven't had a good unit to protect the QB in quite awhile now. Just .5 seconds more for RW in the pocket could make a big difference. At least that would put us at 1.5:)

I heard Mayock last night on the NFL Network thinking they select Baptiste as well.
It makes sense with us losing Browner and Thurmond and like was said on TV, he fits the profile for PC and JS.
He's tall, fast, a former WR and they haven't talked to or about him at all. Very similar pattern to the Irvin and Carpenter selections.

As a disclaimer, I am totally confused as to why the Hawks visited with Timmy Jernigan. He is short, has short arms and small hands. So, either this is "misdirection" or they know something.

As it stands I think Bitonio gets drafted in the second with Seattle's first pick, and Moncrief possibly with the second. I don't believe the Hawks attempt to "replace" Browner with Jean-Batiste in the 32nd spot Maycock and a few others are projecting. Seattle seems to have the ability to find guys much later in the draft that can be coached up at the corner positions. That said, that probably means it happens... LOL

BD I would be surprised to see Seattle make a pick on the first day, been on the trade down train from the first, so I think you have the right of it just was told I couldn't do that, so I simply just didn't submit any picks ( after all that kind of makes it impossible to be accurate, as selecting in the second round, picking up extra picks kind of matters as players availability drastically changes, which drastically changes who's available etc).

Like I said SOME team will want to move back in to the first to snag a QB before Houston gets their second pick. Being at 32 could end up being a bigger blessing than just a Lombardi sitting at the Vmac.The Seahawks sit in a pretty desirable spot in this one ( which might not have been the case if Houston had a decent QB on the roster) Cleveland, Oakland, Jacksonville ALL probably are looking for a QB later in round one or early round two, and with Houston sitting there at 33 it makes it IMPORTANT to those teams ( you can add in a few wild cards in that mix as well, like Arizona, KC, Buffalo, Jets,Tampa, maybe even NE AS AN EVENTUAL replacement for Brady). It might actually turn into a bidding war, which when you have the item for sale is all good.
