Maybe next year we can do a full on draft? Something that benefits trades etc not saying anything wrong with the way this is set up, just that odds IMHO are they do trade, making it impossible to get the points available in the first, and quite possibly the second. I am not any type of draft expert, hell, I get most of my player info off boards and links provided by you guys, but I have a decent grasp of what they are LOOKING to do......

None of us are real experts.
Most of us don't have the time or resources to properly evaluate players.
I don't think I'm alone in reading a number of articles about a player I have seen play or heard about and then forming a decision as to whether my first impressions were accurate.
Like you, I get tips about players I hadn't thought of - guys like Bitonio and Turner who I still know relatively little.
But I don't have the time to look at hours of game film even if I could find it, so it's largely guess work.
It's still fun to speculate and discuss, though.

Problem is the more trades you figure in the more picks you get to have three guesses on, so some guys have 24 names that could possibly wind up being picked and some guys have 30 ... And scoring would be a nightmare! you'd have to ask a guy who predicted a trade that didn't happen which of his sets of three picks for the round we would have traded into don't count, but if one of those guys happened to be drafted he'd be saying "but he was on my list, that should count for something" ...

This way everybody gets the same amount of possible choices and the same amount of possible rounds to have called correct and the same amount of guys as the first name on a set of three, so the playing field is level all the way around.

I've found it damn near impossible to care about the draft this year. It's hard to get excited when I'm pretty sure that all that would happen is that I'd stay up until about midnight to hear that the Hawks traded out of the first round.

I suppose, but like in the real draft, you whiff you whiff, tough cookies. I wouldn't have had anymore picks than any of you, my point has remained that the Hawks will pick early in the second, early in the third and late in the fourth ( 12 total picks for the first three rounds, same as the first three picks for a late first, late second and the fourth) if they want extra picks so be it, but if they whiff they get nothing, just like the real life version. No biggee, just know that IMHO no one is getting any points for their first round picks, and odds are they aren't getting any for their second round picks, as Seattle won't be there to pick in those spots making the players selected irrelevant at the time .

As far as "if they want extra picks so be it", no. It just makes it impossible to score, I'm sorry you're having a hard time seeing that ... but as long as you have the same amount of guesses as everyone else go ahead and put 'em where you want 'em. If you wanna call all 6 of your picks third round picks feel free.

Bird can keep his two second round picks and no first and if the trade happens and he gets two of those six possible choices as our two second round picks it'll be scored that way. He just wont get the second set of fourth rounders.

Just trying to keep it fair.

Belizehawk I LOVE your first round options!!! I'm SO down with those! I'd be ecstatic if that happened tonight!
I would go a bit different after round one, but my round one is yours.
If Coleman drops to the fifth round I will LOSE it! He has a ton of upside with that size, and since Rutgers QB was lousy, that has to be factored in when analyzing his college career. I'd just be STOKED to get him in the fifth!

Yes Oly, I tried this a few years back and it was just too much time. This year hard to get into the names as I normally do, I got a little sidetracked.

However next year brother Bob count me in! I hope you don't change it. Not too much, not too little, just right Bob. Three deep is about all I could handle anyway. Great thread! You guys are my heroes!!!

First, I forgot to list the 1/2 point for UDFA's, but that's always been the the case.

So by a score 3 1/2 to ObS's 2, North's 1/2 and everybody else's bagel; Govandals wins the World Championship of c_hawkbob's annual 3 Deep Seahawks Mock!

Apologize for not participating this year. Real life has been extra demanding. But if I had participated, I would have struck out with goose eggs. The only player we drafted who was even on my radar was Eric Pinkins. For all the other picks my response was, "Who?" WTF?

Woo hoo! I get bragging rights for the year, right? I guess I'll have to post on here more often. lol This has always been fun, thanks c_hawkbob. Next year will be more fun with a full 7 picks and 3 or 4 comp picks also.
