I know for me I just didn't want the Niners to get him to compliment Crabtree and Boldin. The Hawks need a big receiver. Latimer isn't a huge guy but he's fairly big (taller than Boldin, though not as physical obviously).
I'm pretty much step for step with you Riv. I'm leaning towards Bitonio or Tuitt if they are there at 40, maybe Latimer or maybe Bryant at 64 if there. If not I'm content seeing if Jordan Matthews, Allen Robinson or Brandon Coleman are there later. Another name I'm watching is Jarvis Landry. Not big but I love his hands.

There's a difference between wanting them and not getting them, and an ASSUMPTION that they just didn't want them. They wanted Irvin as well, but traded down twice before selecting him. They had a pick submitted yesterday prior to completing the trade, I know I can't say it was or wasn't either of those two players, I also know you can't either, so spare me the "education" on the matter. Simply NO way for you to know that, I said I thought they wanted those two players, you can think differently, but spare me the psychic declaration on it.

Dude,
Chill bro, what I was saying is if they really wanted either of those guys I think they would have taken them. They wouldn't risk losing a player they were in love with. No education HC, just an observation.

There must be something about this guy they really liked, but it shows that teams draft boards are quite different than media evaluators.

That might be the quote of the day right there.
I agree, and obviously so does John, given how much he loves to accumulate picks. I'm LOVING all those 4th round picks!
I also thought he would be available later, though he was DEFINITELY on my radar because of his speed...I just thought he would be available later, but that is why John gets paid the big bucks.
The ONLY knock on him isn't his hands (his hands are fine despite what some have said) it's his weight, and the accompanying health concerns with such a light player. If he were to bulk up a bit while maintaining that speed though! He's lightning in a bottle with that speed.
He's a legitimate field stretching, speedster/deep threat who can immediately be a threat in the return game at worst.
monkey wrote:BTW, just because they took a speedy receiver, that does NOT rule out them still taking a big body WR. There are still SEVERAL very talented receivers who either are big or play big.
