Remembering those who served and who are still serving

This is just a shout out to all the fallen Soldiers who gave their lives serving our great country and those whom survived and those whom continue to serve.

I Salute You!

My Grandfather served in the Navy in WWII and was a POW to the Japanese. His ship was bombed and he swam 1 mile to shore with shrapnel in his ribs only to be captured and treated like an animal until he was released.

My Father served in the Army in Vietnam as a Helicopter Gunner, he volunteered to go back for his second tour. My Father was only 17 and still not legally a US citizen when he entered the Army. He lied about his age in order to fight for Our Country while not being a legal citizen. My Grandparents escaped Germany in early 1940 to Canada where they lived before they came to the USA. My Father retired from the Army as A Sargent First Class.

Both are now resting in their military graves. God Bless them and God Bless America!

Nice story about your gramps, DR. Although I've never served, I have a deep admiration and respect for those who have.

My old man served in the Navy from '43-'46, but never got any closer to the ocean than Astoria. I had two uncles on my mom's side that both served overseas, one in the Pacific, the other in Europe in which he won a silver star for bravery during the invasion of Sicily. All 3 are deceased.

Freedom requires eternal vigilance, unfortunately too many Americans have fallen asleep on their watch. What was paid for in blood has been frittered away...

Props to all vets of any war for serving our country.

Both of my grandfathers were in WWI, along with a great uncle, who was the only one of those 3 to see combat.

Great grandfather served in the Union army during the Civil War.

I can only imagine.
