Each player has their strengths and weaknesses, and the great thing about our secondary is that one player's weakness is made up for by another player's strength. For example, Sherman is a great cover corner, lanky, strong enough to fight for jump balls, great footwork and field awareness, decent against the run, but his major weakness is that he doesn't have the speed to keep up with the top burners in the league. But with Earl having such great lateral coverage and football instincts, can cover for Sherman's one weakness. Earl's major weakness is that he's not always a great tackler, but team him up with Kam, who is a fantastic tackler, and there's not many instances where teams can expose Earl's one weakness.
So...Sherman does 'borrow' Earl's speed and Earl 'borrows' Kam's tackling ability.
Have to be honest, I'm not positive Maxwell ( as much as I appreciate him) is on this team after this season, not that they won't/or don't want him, just that they have bigger fish to fry and there's a reason they keep drafting and signing corners. With how much money they currently have invested in that secondary, I would think he'll have better offers elsewhere that the Hawks won't be willing ( or able even) to match. Good for him if it shakes out like that, dude deserves a raise.
