Why Not Us Repeating?

Postby Long Time Fan » Wed Sep 03, 2014 12:27 pm

Totally excited about the Seahawks defending the Championship. I will be making the trip to Seattle (from Houston) with my son to see the opener tomorrow. We were fortunate enough to attend the NFC championship game in January and we wanted to bookend the superbowl and hear the introduction of the Superbowl Champion Seattle Seahawks. The two games that we attended last season (We attended the comeback game against the Texans) were the most memorable I have ever attended.

We have every reason to believe the 2014 version of the Seahawks is as good if not better than the 2013 Champions. I will enjoy the ride this season with the rest of you. Why not us? Again.

And the hanging of the banner. Great trip- have fun. Wish I could be there.

Yep- it doesn't take much to derail a season, but you're right- if our D is even close to as good as they were last year, and our O is even close to as good as they've looked in preseason, and the injury bug stays away, this season looks promising.

This team fed off being overlooked. This season, every week they will be facing an opponent wanting to take down the champs. The regular season will be no easy road, but the character of this team will come through. The media can write all it wants about the dour recent history of defending superbowl champions, but I believe that this organization is unique. There are leaders up and down both the roster and coaching staff. Defending their title will ultimately be just the test this leadership embraces. Our reign and its run are far from ebbing. By playoff time, no team will want to play the Seahawks. I would like nothing better than a rematch with the Broncos in the Superbowl.

Due to my pathetic propensity for superstitious behavior I cannot even allow myself to entertain the thought. Heck I don't even think of playoffs. Much like the team itself, I can only focus on what is next. My fear of jinxing the deal runs deep. As some of you may know I made my family leave the house for the Super Bowl this last year because the three losses we had came when I watched the game with other people. I was completely alone to watch the Hawks take the Lombardi.

I have issues.

I have it on good authority that it was your solo viewing of the superbowl that determined its outcome. If I hear that you watch a single game this season with another single person then we will fear the outcome.

Each year brings a whole new slew of my own idiosyncrasies. One must fine tune them as the season progresses.

And yes, if I had gone to a Super Bowl party last year in all likelihood it would have screwed the whole deal. I'm that powerful.
