Game Over - Hawks Time to Prepare for the Lions

Postby savvyman » Sun Jan 04, 2015 3:30 pm

Detroit is beating up cowboys all over the field. At 10:04 of the second quarter they should call it a mercy killing of the cowboys and end the game.

I was a little behind on Tivo and had to FF to live TV after seeing your post thinking it must be 21-0 now.

I don't know- I'm close to agreeing with you, but at only 2 TDs down, there's still time to come back for DAL.

Way too early to call it.
Lions are still more than capable of screwing this up.

Detroit is playing very well, but a lot of football left.

We will beat Lions if they come here anyway.

The only way Detroit loses this game is if the coaching staff "Over-Coaches" and takes their foot off the gas pedal.

So far the game MVP is Golden Tate.

Detroit is just whipping them in every phase. Add FG accuracy....Theres still time but the Lions are definitely in the drivers seat.

You may have jumped the gun Savvy, Dallas wiht the ball only three points down and plenty of time as I post.

It really doesn't matter though, Carolina or Detroit, we'll beat either one.

I don't recall ever seeing refs pick up a judgment call flag like that.

Anyone hear/read on what grounds they overruled the ref that flagged it??

You might want to rethink the title... Cowboys just aren't falling apart this game at the end, but the refs have made some interesting calls.
I think the NFL wants Dallas vs Green Bay a lot more then Carolina vs Green Bay. They don't care who comes to Seattle.

Ya my friend texted me this exact thread subject in the first qtr and I texted back that Dallas would slowly wear the Lions down and win in the 4th. Dallas is just too physical on O and have too many playmakers. But Stafford has been great in the 4th qtr comebacks and I'd not count Lions out yet.

... that is unless those Boys give it back to Detroit. You, know, I can't even begin to feel sorry for the Dallas player that just re-fumbled the ball. That was the game. It's comical.

Honestly, though, I don't care who wins, really, but what ON EARTH was up with picking up a flag like that?? That's truly bizarre.

(and interestingly, the ref sitting with Aikman/Buck defended the call without question or hesitation)

Was a great game. I can't help it though. Lol I just cannot stand Dallas. But Dallas GB is a very intruiging matchup.

Thread title worked.

No way would we have rather faced the Lions over the Carolina Panthers next week.

Detroit winning would also have given Green Bay a much easier game next week.

I still am hoping for a Cowboys vs Seattle conference championship game.

I'll take Dallas. They have impressed me with their LBs each game I've watched. GB is too soft on D IMO. I just think it's most likely Dallas v Seattle in the title game.

Yes I could hear the howling all the way from Michigan on that reversal of the obvious pass interference - in fact I can still hear the screams of "We were robbed" now.

It was the #1 "Game-Changing" play of the game.

+10 = because that's how much GB will win by.

Lions Choked Hard.

The PI call was Completely bogus, terrible even for the refs we have today. But Detroit limped to the finish line, scoring only a fg for the entire 2nd half.

Regardless, this changes nothing.

We are gonna win next week, and the week after that, and then 2 weeks after that.

I saw a flag picked up 2 years ago in Carolina on MNF. Keuchly held Gronk in the end zone and drew a flag that was picked up without explanation on the final play of the game.Brady was furious dropping F bombs on the refs on the way to the showers.

But that play wasn't as bad as the one today. That pick up of an obvious PI coupled with the ticky tack calls vs Detroit on the next possession was a huge factor.

I'm thankful. I was becoming very uneasy about the prospect of Detroit coming in here fresh off their first playoff win in 24 years with Tate itching to celebrate on the Hawk. There are no gimme's but Seattle definitely has the easiest road to the championship game now.

Maybe I'm the only one, but good, I wanted nothing of Detroit next round, IMHO the better team lost, and I wouldn't be shocked to see Lacy rack up 250+ against that horrid run defense, or GB putting up over 600 total yards. People can continue to claim how good Dallas is, they aren't, and I pray they find a way to upset GB....

Got Seattle 38 -13 if Dallas gets enough Blandino love to get here....

Detroit, as we saw today, just flat out Chokes.
They wouldn't have proven anything today by beating the Cowboys, the way it unfolded in the 2nd half.

They did get beyond screwed on that bad non PI call, but it doesn't excuse how weak they were in the final 2 quarters.

Dallas being undefeated on the road during the regular season is the only interesting fact entering Lambeau Field.
And you know the 4 letter networks are gonna run wild with that stuff, lol.

Problem is, Green Bay is undefeated at home, and they are more clutch as a team overall, particularly under these circumstances. They did get beat a year ago by the 49ers, but SF was actually a good team then.

It will be pretty funny to have Dallas tease their desperate and delusional fans for another week. It will be a bitter end in the bitter cold for Jerruh's team.

Well Cowboys might as well be travelling to the North Pole - based on the current weather conditions (which of course can change + or - for the next 7 days.

Hahahaha. Are you the same guy that defended that roughing the passer call when we played up in Seattle just weeks ago? Something must have changed between now and then.

That call against Detroit was probably incorrect but it was not really agregious and it did not even come close to putting them in a guaranteed win even if it had stood. There was plenty of game left and even had they kicked a FG from it it's still a one score game. If anything Dallas gave them a mulligan by fumbling back the strip sack. But I can understand why you want to blow this up and dish on Dallas, because they already beat you in your place.

I hate Dallas. Cannot stand the Pack. In fact, as much as I am beginning to hate Seattle they may be 2nd or even 3rd on the list of teams I do not want to see advancing. Watching Jerry Jones dance in the booth made me want to puke and brought back memories of him doing the same thing to us when his Cowboys were trouncing us in NFC Championchip games. But facts are facts.

Cowboys can beat any team left and that's not even a question. They are the most balanced team left on O and their D seems to somehow have found some playmakers, especially at LB and with situational pass rushers. They are going to be a tough out for whomever they play, if they even lose at all. Like I posted before, they are the only team left in either conference who has an advantage over the Seahawks in any phase of the game. Given that, best thing to do if you are a fan of an opposing team is to downplay how well they've been playing and credit their win to a bad call.

I got you on that, I got you.

That's my first instinct too, BUT, if the Cowboys can run the ball against the Packers, and I think they can, then they can own TOP keeping Rodgers on the sideline, and win.
Neither team has much of a defense, and both have a passing game, but only the Cowboys have a truly dominant O-line and run game...just saying.

Anthony;

True. But as I posted before, I do think Dallas has an advantage V Seattle's D front. And their D has enough speed and playmakers to keep Seattle's O at bay. It's my opinion on this, I've held it before the first meeting, and obviously no one is going to agree with me here. Though the Carolina game could get interesting and theoretically Pats could match up on paper, I really do not see any team potentially beating Seattle other than Dallas.

And BTW, though I am no Dallas fan, I did enjoy on some level Romo shutting up some idiots who continually comment about his "choking". There is so much stupid crap and so many canned moronic mantras that get repeated on sports blogs everywhere, and one of the most annoying on the top of that list is the "Romo is a choker" mantra. True, he has struggled at times, but he's also done what he just did in the 4th today numerous over his career. He's clearly one of the top QBs in the league. I've always admired his game, along with Rodgers, Luck and a few others.

ahh dude we are the #1 defense in the NFL they have no advantage at all nice try. You can think all you want but as we have shown time and time again you should stop thinking your never right. As to whose game you admired do not really care. We all know you do not admire Wilsons which only shows who you admire is worthless.

The network announcers mentioned something that piqued my interest. When they picked up the flag VERY LATE on that critical PI call, they said that the officiating crew was unfamiliar with each other. I thought that the officiating crew traveled together as a group, through the playoffs. Apparently that is not the case? Should not the crew be promoted to calling playoff games based on their performance in the regular season rather than advancing individual refs just like the teams are?
