A request I am respectfully making of this entire forum

Postby monkey » Tue Feb 03, 2015 7:36 pm

I am asking, nay begging you, to PLEASE be kind to those of us who have blocked the idiot troll, and do not quote him in your responses.

He's a troll, and not worth my time or yours, but if you guys insist on feeding your pet troll and playing with it, please have the common decency to keep it covered up!

I really don't want to see that level of stupidity displayed here, it's indecent and vulgar.

I just learned how to put posters on ignore last week, and I only added one to the list.

I tell ya, it's a great feeling for those that haven't done it yet.

I finally broke down a couple weeks ago and added him ( though if Bob hadn't mentioned how to do it, I would have probably never done so, and probably couldn't have helped going round and round with as was my habit for the last several years).

Anthony- come on man, you know who Monkey is discussing, there is only one troll on this forum.

Hey I am not a troll, just because you guys disagree with me sometimes and I can be an oversensitive pain in the neck, doesn't mean I don't love this team.
That's mean.

Obi, I can see your posts and have responded to you lately, so you're not that guy.
:D
I was referring to Futureite, the Niners troll. Guess I should have made that clear...thought it was extremely obvious?

Oh, He must be pretty bad for HS to call him a Troll. She's a nice lady.
To be honest I haven't spent that much time on his post.

Put him on ignore a couple of weeks ago, and should've done it much sooner.

It cleans up the board nicely.

Never underestimate the power to ignore:)

I know right?
Best decision I've made in months was to put that fool on ignore. Loving that ignore button.
I figure if enough people start ignoring him, he'll either go away or create a new alt, one which when it is found out, (that shouldn't take long) I can ignore that one as well.
Never saw myself as one of those people who would use that button, always figured if I don't like what someone is saying, just don't read it. Ignore button is better though.

I haven't put him on ignore and now that basically everybody else has I don't have to because nobody is really arguing with him anymore so he just makes 1 stupid post and that's it. I like a good laugh every once in awhile and his feeble attempts at trolling cause me to chuckle.

I hear ya mykc14.

I wish the guy well personally - I'm not here to declare him (or anybody else for that matter) a bad person. It's just too many threads started to become a place for, (IMO), endless debates that got completely away from the original OP and became personal attacks. It's this very same thing that made the PI a POS for a lot of good posters who chose to go elsewhere.

On that note, I'd never let Anybody chase me away from a forum I enjoy, particularly when it's My Team's, lol. Ignoring is legit and reasonable way of handling it, that's why forums have the option available in the first place.

It's easier this way. I've seen plenty of opposing fans on other (Seahawk) forums who can make their point without having an ulterior motive of being disruptive, which I believe is the case here.

Which is exactly what I don't want, nor do any of you I hope! We built this home for a reason and it's my intent to keep it enjoyable for all. Situations like this are difficult. I want to respect the differing opinions of others (even when they come off as a jerk), yet when you have someone that is obviously upsetting multiple members...where do you draw the line?

The only accounts I've banned have been the obvious spammers. Not trying to play "God" mode here, just want to keep the place clean.

Mak and I even thought of putting it up for a vote. Couldn't decide it that was a democratic solution, or if we would be overstepping our boundaries as moderators. Just want to protect The Shack and I definitely don't want to see people walking away!

The ignore button is the obvious solution. You can't take bait when it's not there in front of you.

To the 99.9999% of the other posters, thanks for being here and making this the best Seahawks forum/community of all time! Who remembers Duncan's Dad? Aaaah, the old days! :D

I'm glad you're taking this route rather than banning him. Leave it to the forum members to decide on their own if they don't want to see him. He really hasn't violated any rules and I would hate to see you set a precedent of banning posters just because of their POV, Hawk fans or not, as it would turn this place from a forum where all opinions, even rival team's fan opinions, are welcome, into a good olé boy's club just for those Seahawk fans that old a specific POV.

Although I have not chosen to put him on ignore as I like to think that I have a thick skin regarding these matters and don't mind his comments, he's obviously upset a majority of the regulars to the point that it might affect overall participation so I can't say that I disagree with any of the members that have chosen to ignore him.

And yes, I remember Duncan's Dad, and Normey, and a few other eccentric posters from the old PI days.
