Sherm meets Brady on final snap of Super Bowl...

Postby Agent 86 » Wed Feb 04, 2015 6:22 pm

Thought this might have been mentioned before, but didn't see anything.

Not surprising to me, Sherm manned up and went straight to Brady on the final snap to offer congrats. A lot has happened since "you Mad Bro?", Sherm has had some moments, but one thing I always see him do is give props when they are due after the game. Heck, he even offered props to that "mediocre" receiver last year, although his timing was obviously not great..lol.

I don't know why, but when I saw this it just made me feel good about Richard Sherman, and also Tom Brady.

I think for Sherman and the Hawks to get to the stratosphere of dynasty they need to be humbled a bit, and I think they were. Id have loved to have seen it in a win and it might have been a similar result. But the Hawks are young, still growing up. So proud of Sherm and these Hawks.

Well said, Hawktawk.

If ever there was a case of "humbled but hungry" this is it.

Glad someone posted this actually, I kept intending to but never got around to it.

It seems to me that this is just Sherman's way of letting players know that all the trash talk, all the stuff that gets said in the heat of the battle, is meant for the battle, no hard feelings, and to let it stay on the field.
Like you said, he did the same thing with the mediocre Crabtree last year. Almost exactly the same way. Crabtree was just too butthurt to take it that way. (Though I cannot blame him, I'd have been butthurt too).
Brady, having won, took a moment to realize what Sherman was doing, then shook his hand, and made nice. It was easier for Brady to make nice than it was Crabtree, since Brady just won. But in both cases I think the gesture from Sherman was indeed, sincere.
That's why he vented like he did after the NFC championship last year. Crabtree shoved his face instead of shaking his hand and making nice. Again though, I understand Crabtree's feelings there.

The thing with Crabtree was started before the 2013 season at a charity function. Sherm was clearly goading Crabs after the NFC game and his rant was on the edge of acceptable behavior.
He is currently being mocked on the internet in various memes for his 24 gesture to Revis and Edleman mocked him during the parade with a meme showing Sherman's 4 fingers and the question, how many rings does Tom Brady have?He is learning, hes a smart guy and an amazing athlete.
I'm one of the fans that thinks the boys are a bit too loquacious sometimes such as Baldwin taking a dump on the ball WTF? But they are young too. I shudder to think of what I used to be like in my mid 20's. They will figure it out and they will be better and they are already damn good.

I saw that, and you're right, it did make me feel good about Richard Sherman.

Two years ago, I didn't like him at all, felt his behavior to be unsportsmanlike and that everything was all about him. But after reading his bio, I began to form a different opinion. I've since seen him in a number of interviews and have been impressed with how he handled himself. So although he's still not one of my favorite players and I haven't yet done a complete 180, I've warmed up to him considerably of the past two years, gone from a sub freezing to just below room temperature.

We're going to need him in the locker room next year. He's one of the vets that's going to have to help Pete pick up the pieces.

How many balls did Edelman catch on Sherman again? Edelman can talk but not about Sherm. Brady avoided him like the plague. They attributed one target for 6 yards against Sherman on the night and even that target really wasn't on Sherman. It was the first pass of the game to Gronk where Sherman was supposed to bail and Wright flashed down to pick up Gronk on that screen.

If nothing else the Superbowl should shut up some of the talk about Sherman whether it be his lack of class or his ability to play the position. He lined up all over the field all night. Left side, right side and in the slot many times. Tom Brady threw the ball 50 times and Sherman gave up nothing.

Congrats to the Sherm and his girlfriend on the birth of their son Rayden!

How fitting eh, he was born on Feb.5, or 2/5.

My feeling about Sherman has changed from being a brash athlete to someone who sees the big picture not only in football, but in life.
I hope he never changes.

Other than the fact that I now realize just how tough he really is my feelings about Sherm haven't changed a bit, loved for who he was then, love him for who he is now.

Same holds true for Kam and Earl and Beast and Russell. We need the individual players that these guys are to be as much themselves as teammates.

Up until now, I always thought Sherman was trolling Crabtree when he went to shake his hand in the end zone. But now that I think about it, I think he would have been very gentlemanly had Crabtree actually shook his hands, like 'we're cool, no hard feelings, it's just a game'. Not that I was surprised how Crab reacted, but I think it's tough to say what Sherman really would have done with a different reaction. I like Sherm more and more as time passes.
