They keep saying that we don't have a #1 WR. Well, PH is more of a slot guy too and not a #1 WR guy so I guess that conventional thinking will be that our Seahawks will look for that "guy" in the draft.

Mean while, Denver had what 5-6 receivers who caught at least 60 passes apiece just who is their #1 WR??

Hey, if PH can draw double teams leaving GT,DB, and JK with single coverage I will take that all game long.

Glad you finally suited up, and joined a Hawk forum, bro.

You certainly have good taste: this is the best on the Net.

briwas101 wrote:Please forgive what many will consider "negativity" but I have been bothered all season long that Golden Tate and Doug baldwin have been treated as the supporting cast for Percy Harvin. I am the kind of person who HATES giving credit to people who don't deserve it, especially when it takes credit away from those who do.

In Harvin's career he has exactly ONE season where he had more receiving yards than Tate this year.

Harvin's career average receiving yards per season is right about what Doug Baldwin did for us this year.

How is it that Harvin only has one season that was better than Tate's and yet Harvin is treated like he's a top-10 WR in the NFL?

Because in that one season, Harvin caught passes from one of the NFL's all-time greatest gunslingers, Brett Favre.

Because Baldwin has never caught passes from one of the NFL's all-time greatest gunslingers, Brett Favre.

briwas101 wrote:How is it that Percy Harvin caught an incredible THREE PASSES for a WHOPPING 21 YARDS against the Saints and 99% of seahawks fans said Harvin was "awesome" or "incredible" or "a beast" or "worth every penny" ?????

My guess? They are just trying to keep some positivity afoot.

The Hawks held Crabtree to 4 catches for 52 yards and almost everyone in seattle said we SHUT HIM DOWN.

So can someone PLEASE EXPLAIN how 5 catches for 53 yards and a TD is "shutting down" Boldin, but 21 yards from Harvin is AWESOME AND AMAZING AND INCREDIBLE AND WORTH EVERY PENNY????

Boldin and Harvin are not the same type of receivers. To be sure, both are game-changers, but Boldin is more of the type cut from the Hines Ward mold: i.e. big and physical at the point of attack, and a guarantee to catch everything that's thrown his way.

Harvin is more of the type cut from the Joey Galloway mold: a pure sprinter who can stretch the field and wear out opposing defenses both physically — by making their defensive backs literally suck air after every play, with their hands on their hips — and mentally, by keeping them guessing as to the nature of every forthcoming play, causing them to create mismatches.

I just can't stand when people have double standards, and it is even worse when those double standards are created to mask an unfortunate truth: The Percy Harvin trade was the worst move in Seahawks history.

Luckily it shouldn't stop us from winning the super bowl, but when we win it WILL NOT be because of Harvin. When we win it will be because of ALL THE PLAYERS WHO HAVE BEEN CONTRIBUTING THIS SEASON WHO GOT US WHERE WE ARE.

We can all enjoy this season and postseason, but the future might not be so pretty when we lose guys who ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTE and we are stuck paying Harvin $12m to sit on the bench and only get 17 more regular season yards than my 3 year old niece.

And please, people, give the credit where credit is due. The best WRs on this team are Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin. Harvin is either 3rd or 4th (behind Rice).

Which is exactly why we should hope that Cris Carter, Keyshawn Johnson, Boomer Esiason and pretty much all the rest of the faces in the sports media continue to talk about how pathetic the Hawks' receiving corps is.

Keep that chip strong, you know.

I was gonna say - Percy better be playing in the SB after sitting out the 49er game, ha.
ANYTHING this guy can do for us is a bonus at this point.

Just hope he isn't the recipient of more cheap shots like he was from the Saints.
Be refreshing - and awesome - to see him play an entire game.

I suggest they start with using him from behind the line of scrimmage on some running and bubble screen plays. Throwing jump balls against the Saints wasn't a great way to ease him back into it.

+1! You have to admire the effort Percy gave in going for the two throws that eventually lead to the concussion. You can see why his teammates apparently love the guy. I'd like to see a screen or two, maybe even another end around. Something to let him operate in a little space. He doesnt seem to need much to break a long one.

Surprised he's returning kicks (and Clayton will beat Carroll up for it), but I guess if he's back he's back, so why not?

At this point what in the world would you be "saving" him for? When you get here you fire every bullet you have. If Clayton thinks that a mistake, he obviously has missed the previous 100 years of any and all major professional sports championships, seriously doubt he lambaste that choice this time.

No kidding. One of only two Super Bowls in the 38 year history of our franchise and we're supposed to be saving him for something bigger? I don't care if he plays another down for us ever again if he can help us get a Lombardi.

I doubt he'd have a problem this time, too- note the date on my post.

we're supposed to be saving him for something bigger?

No. See above.

I do believe all of these playoff wins skews one's perception of time.
