The Kearse TD, and Baldwin

I've rerun this play about a dozen times, and I have to say that I am incredibly impressed with Doug Baldwin on this play. He could have EASILY gone up for the ball and attempted to catch it as well, but somehow (in a split second) realized that it was Kearse's ball to catch and ducked under him to give him a shot at the ball. Look at how close and how easily Baldwin could have also gone up for the ball, and it's mind-boggling that he made that decision as quick as he did.

Kudos to Doug, and obviously to Kearse for his utter concentration on that one.

I was thinking the same thing on Sunday when they replayed it. At first I thought he wasn't close enough, but when you see him consciously avoid Kearse it's apparent he was totally aware of his surroundings and what was going on in the game. A completely unselfish play by Baldwin when he could have caused an incompletion or worse.

I saw the same thing. Even watching it live I sorta cringed at the thought of a collision as we have seen a couple times in the end zone with our DBs

Another thought too, how impressive is it that all the receivers knew exactly what to do when the 49ers were caught off-sides. I'm sure they practice it, but I for one was very impressed.

Another amazing aspect to that play was Hauschka pulling the plug on himself and telling Carroll not to try the kick. Had the 4th down play not worked he would have been a goat but he was man enough to tell his coach the truth. Just an amazing play made possible by amazing players in an amazing season. Its the best ever.....

All season the story line is that our coaches get these players prepped up to play the game on Sunday. That has been the difference in the close games. Simply put, separation in the preparation.

Our defense has guys that are sharp, and have great football instincts. I am totally blown away by how they play. Baldwin went to Stanford, and the guy displayed some smarts in that move. Good for him. And very happy for Kearse.

Im watching the Sound-FX clip from these set of plays. Do you realize Russell is talking to Carroll and says they are going to try and draw SF offsides, because they've almost been jumping on the single count every time, and knows they're going to jump for SURE. He says they should take a shot at the endzone, and Carroll warns Russell to TELL HIS GUYS not to jump because they've done that a few times this year. This entire play is INCREDIBLY special and the receivers already knew to all run FLY routes because Carroll and RW tell them what they're going to do to make SF jump offsides.

And all on 4th and 7??

Great observations in here, and Wilson actually confirmed much of what we thought we saw.
He told the players in the huddle that he was going to double count to get them offsides, and to watch for it, so when they jumped, to go deep.

Nothing that happened in that play was accidental, it was all intentional. It was a terrific play all around, and especially by our heady QB!

How can we not? It was an unbelievable play that sent everyone into hysterics! On a 4th down nonetheless. Not to send the OT all sideways, but my all time favorite Hawk Highlight (among many..) was the Largent hit on Harden after the pic. I can watch that over and over again.
