Pete Carroll Re-wind

Postby I-5 » Wed Jan 29, 2014 12:48 am

It's so cool to watch this clip from 4 years ago, knowing where are standing today. Here he is, Mr. Rah rah rah Pete Carroll being introduced as the new Executive VP and Head Coach of the Seahawks on January 12, 2010. We were all still hung over after the Mora episode. But if you listen to his words, he lays out EXACTLY his vision for the Seahawks, from his leadership style, to the kind of offense he wants to run (before Beast Mode was a thought in Seattle), player treatment, open practices...it's all there. But most of all, the role of COMPETITION in his vision for his program. The most charming part to me is when he admitted he had never been to Qwest Field, but that he knew about the 12th Man, and that he felt they would be an asset to his defense on third downs. Third downs - are you kidding me? How about EVERY down!

Nice clip.

I only watched a few minutes of it, but got the gist of Carroll's vision. And it is a trip to see it now.

Anything was going to be better than Jr after he was canned. Same with Ruskell. I never once endorsed the hiring of that little s*** JM when he was brought in, and knew it'd end in disaster.

Thankfully, we landed Pete.

And the rest is history.

Excellent clip! Thanks I-5 for sharing that.

I saw the whole thing and it was truly amazing what he mentioned and where we are now. It is truly remarkable to see a true leader not only talk the talk but walk the walk and actually do what he says he's gonna do.

You could tell from the beginning that Carroll was on a mission. We are one fortunate franchise.

Although this thread will likely not get many replies, because there's no controversy about it, or nothing really to say or add to it, it is an EXCELLENT thread!
On the verge of the biggest game ever, to look back at the start of this thing and see how Pete has done EXACTLY what he said he would do, in the face of all the doubters (I admit that I was one of them...not anymore!) is simply amazing.

Someone else will probably win coach of the year, but NO ONE deserves it more than Pete Carroll!! What he and John have done in just four years is simply breathtaking.
They took over a team with very little real talent to speak of, made an unprecedented number of roster moves, virtually completely turning over the entire roster, all the while restocking with guys who fit their vision, and in just four years time now have the team in the Superbowl.
Who else has ever done that?
The correct answer is, no one has ever done that.

There was a great segment yesterday on Super Bowl Live about Pete and the culture he and Schneider have created in Seattle. So unique, it is truly like no other. They kinda compared it to how the Patriots do business. Not in the sense that it is the same philosophy obviously, but that it is so one of a kind and could lay the groundwork for having a competitive team year after year.

I know there were some doubters on here about Pete's style, and for good reason. He had to prove his way he learned in college would translate to the NFL.

We are so lucky to have gotten him. Seattle is now a place where other players are starting to see as an attractive place to play. It's because of Pete. His players love him. They know it really is open competition. Obviously winning helps. But this culture he laid has made winning possible. You like to think after 4 years now that this approach really works and is here to stay.

There is no one I would be more happier for tomorrow than Pete Carroll if the 'Hawks win.

Go "Hawks!!

This win belongs to so many, from us the fans, to Paul Allen's entrepreneurship, to Mr. Nordstrom, to Pete Gross, to Dave Brown, to John Schneider's savvy, to the people behind the scenes who do all the great work for the team, to all the other players and coaches who came before and stayed true Seahawks...but I have to give credit to Pete, who came in here with all the baggage 4 years ago, and not only articulated his vision from Day 1, but demonstrated a consistent belief, passion, and ability to lead his players to the right way. It's going to be hard for anyone to write him off as a kook or a cheat now, thanks to the complete and utter dismantling of the most powerful offense in NFL history that the Seahawks showed to the world. Who's going to the parade on Wednesday? I wouldn't miss it for the world!

Man, I wish I could be there.

Instead, I'll just have to sport my colors down here in CA.

And hope I don't get killed doing so:)

Meanwhile, great post and good on you for remembering all things Seahawks from year's past.

I spent a moment remembering Holmgren and what he did for this franchise, and how he himself should've been able to hoist the Lombardi. This isn't to open up old wounds, just reflecting on how sometimes a person who's very deserving of something doesn't always get it. And coach Mike was one of those here in Seattle.

So happy and proud of our Seattle Seahawks.

This is one for the ages.

And so will be that celebration parade.

GO SEAHAWKS!!!
