Aseahawkfan wrote:I'm not thinking wimp. It just seems we have this bad luck with players that were fine in college suddenly getting strange little injuries. Okung was fine his entire college career. Carpenter fine. They get here and bang. I hope Penny survives the occasional Seahawk curse where some player not known to have injuries suddenly gets hit by a series of nagging injuries.
Carpenter's injuries more than likely had to do with his being out of shape vs. just plain being snake bit. Okung had a much more serious problem with his ankles. It's a lot less likely to re-injure a finger than it is an ankle, so I wouldn't be too alarmed.
More than likely, Penny would be playing if this were Week 12 and not the preseason. If it were an injury dealing with his legs, knees, or feet, I'd be concerned. But not a finger. And as JS noted, they didn't even bother to immobilize it, so it can't be too serious. He'll still be able to participate in practices in everything except for full contact drills.

A couple of the injuries to Okung was just bad luck. Our own players rolled up on his ankles more than once and (I think it was Dockett) hip tossed him to the ground which caused a different injury.
Things like that happen in the game all the time, but there are some players who go whole careers without being rolled up on or who just happened to be in the right position to not get a serious injury.
Okung just wasn't one of them when he was with us.
NorthHawk wrote:That's a good question, but for some reason, I get the feeling that most of the roll up injuries are when pass protecting.
Maybe I'm wrong on that.
