How Jets' Jermaine Kearse is using Russell Wilson stories to get Sam Darnold to speak up

"But quarterback Russell Wilson, a fellow rookie, became annoyed when he entered the huddle, tried to start talking, and heard Kearse. Wilson looked directly at Kearse.

"Shut the [expletive] up," Wilson told Kearse. "
Kearse immediately went quiet. So did the rest of the huddle. With those four words, the rookie quarterback had the group's respect.

"He demanded the attention, and he got it," Kearse told NJ Advance Media on Wednesday. "

Interesting given some of the defenders, Sherman BS and speculation by other posters

That story has been out there since about the day Russell was anointed as the starter in his rookie year. It's the story that got all of our attention and made us all sit up and take notice. Many didn't understand and were upset about spending 9 million on Flynn... but by the 3rd or 4th game, I don't remember anyone upset about Wilson. He got the Ring for all of us. It became our heaven for a couple of years.
Too bad he lost his focus getting divorced and marrying a 'superstar' --- Maybe he should talk to Brady about how he does it year after year with a superstar wife.

Only thing new for me is it was Kearse that he directed it to.

He was directing at whoever was talking, when the QB enters the huddle it's time to shut up and pay attention. Kearse should have known that.

I don't think it's terribly unusual though, if you can't take control of a huddle you sure can't QB an NFL team.

It's not just at the NFL level, either. College and high school demand the same attribute. The quarterback by the very nature of his position has to be a leader of people, not unlike any other position of authority. Russell's take charge attitude is by no means novel.

All true the point was, some have said thanks to Sherman and others no one respected Wilson and he was not a leader, this dispells that, which was the point.

well except for the BS " Too bad he lost his focus getting divorced and marrying a 'superstar' --- Maybe he should talk to Brady about how he does it year after year with a superstar wife. " which is well stupid, and nonfactual. I mean if losing focus is leading the league in TDs, accounting for over 80% of our offensive yards and over 95% of our offensive TDs then I am pretty sure most teams would love their QBs to loose focus

Do you really believe that football players aren't human and don't have human emotions like the rest of us? If you do, then OK. We're done, but evidently, you don't remember the issues in the locker room when Percy Harvin was on the team, or you prefer to believe nothing happened -- the problem is, something was happening and has continued up to maybe earlier this year. Whether it was Percy, Sherman, the new wife's ex threatening to kill him or other issues yet to be determined, it was out there. Now, Russell seems to be a lot better. Maybe the change in coaches and the fact the most of the "D" is gone, and he's showing to be a good daddy but if you don't think he was emotional drained at times, which of course is going to affect you in your daily life (Ie: football player) you need to do some research on being human.

Not debating if they are human or not, but you cant prove his marriage was an issue. If there was something there were alot if ither things it could have been. Given he was still showibg up early, leaving late, getting guys together in the off season. There is little pointing to his being married as a problem.
