At the team hotel no less and the night before the game. I admit I was bummed when we traded down and let him 'slip' to the 49ers in the draft. Whooosshhh.

And its the second one.....The first *recanted*. Like a chick is generally going to make up a physical assault claim out of thin air. He ought to be suspended immediately.

If you read down a little further in the link, it says this:

The San Francisco 49ers announced Sunday morning they will release linebacker Reuben Foster, who was arrested Saturday night at the team hotel in Tampa, Florida, on charges of domestic violence.

I don't like the idea of suspending players based just on an accusation. The team ought to look at the evidence, review his past history, and hear his side of the story before making such a decision.

I agree but we don't know if they did that on the first charge already and told him that if another charge came up that they would act. We just don't know enough about the situation.

Very true, which is why I said that I wouldn't want to suspend a player based simply on one allegation as I think Hawktalk was suggesting. IMO the team should review the situation and base their decision based on the evidence/player's statement/past history, etc. We're moving towards a society where you're guilty until proven innocent.

He has a history of not following the rules (of society and the NFL) if you consider his actions at the Combine along with prior accusations and now being jailed for DV.
He has great talent, but not worth the hassle of his personal life.
Sort of parallels Alton Smith, but I'm not sure alcohol or drugs are also a factor.

That I didn't know. I also read the article a little closer, so I'll have to retract my earlier remarks.

Makes you wonder why they drafted him in the first place.

Considering where it happened, I have a good suspicion that the team knows what happened, even if they can't say it. Too many people with ears in a 'team' hotel. He was cut too quick.

That's where he was arrested. It's not necessarily the same place that the alledged crime occurred. I'd be very surprised if he would be dumb enough to get mixed up in something at the hotel, but who knows.

You're right RD. It doesn't state where the 'alleged' incident happened. Considering that it was the night before a game, I'd be surprised if it wasn't at the hotel, but considering Foster's history, we can't jump to conclusions. For him, it really doesn't matter at this point.

Well, if it happened in a strip joint, I suppose the credibility of the witnesses could be in question. But I hear what you're saying. His past does not help his cause regardless of the circumstances.

And there's some dissension there because of it.
If he doesn't work out, their FO may become fractured and Allen might be out.

So this is his third charge. The first one was on a different issue but nonetheless, its his third scrape with the law. Its only a matter of time for him to be back on the street.
