Gotta have arms to run a training camp, he'll be one of them.

At 6'7" and 244 lbs, he'll provide a stark contrast to Russell Wilson, at least for photo ops.

Lynch had dropped to #3 on the Bronco's depth chart this season and was eventually released. There's also a bit of irony as Lynch was taken by the Broncos with the #26 overall in the 2016 draft, which was our original spot. We traded down with Denver and took Ifedi with their #31.

At 24 years old, Lynch is still pretty young, so its's a little premature to hang the 'bust' label on him.

With his size they can use him for a TE

I think he's been injury prone. Looked like a phenomenal talent in college. Very athletic. Reminds me of Carson Wentz.

I haven't seen a whole lot of him, but given his size, he reminds me more of a Brock Osweiller or Ryan Mallett, not exactly the point guard Pete always talks about as his ideal quarterback. I don't see him being a real good fit for our offense, but as Cbob said, he's another arm for training camp.

He’s more like Dan McGwire with his height, but probably more athletic.

I watched him a couple of times when he was playing for Memphis. What stood out to me was how athletic and mobile he was. Great wheels. I mean you just don't see that in guys who are 6'7". Other than his injuries, I'm not sure why he hasn't done better in the pros. But a lot of guys who excelled in college don't do that well in the pros because they don't process stuff fast enough. What their eyes see doesn't translate into appropriate decision making. The action on the field speeds up so much in the pros.

He doesn't have to be much more athletic to top Dan McGuire. That guy was like a statute in the pocket.

Keep in mind that our offense doesn't just rely on mobility in a quarterback, it requires a QB that can run a lot of RPO plays and that the defenses will respect.

Found this analysis intriguing: https://www.fieldgulls.com/2019/1/18/18 ... son-middle

It hadn't occurred to me that RW struggled to complete short and mid range passes over the middle. But come to think of it, there is an element of truth there I think. We all know Russ is most effective when throwing on the run. If fieldgulls' take on that is correct, I would guess his short stature has some bearing on that problem. Poor visibility for him in that area of the field because of the congestion of taller bodies between him and the receivers.

On the other hand, P. Lynch at 6'7" can see over that and at the same time doesn't have to move much so his awkward body mechanics and footwork (according to the author of above linked story) don't come into play much.

I'm not sure if RW's problems with completing passes over the middle is due to his lack of height or his reluctance to step up into the pocket. In either case, IMO it's not a problem as his overall accuracy is just fine. His biggest issue is his occasional stubbornness not to give up on a play and live for another down.

It should no occur has it is not true at all. As you can see in the chart in the link he is 122.8 Qb rating in the short middle, and 94.4-95.8 in the mid middle and long middle.

https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/charts/player/season/russell-wilson/WIL777781/2018/season/qb-grid

The real issue we don't pass much in the middle and for that all you need to do is go to Pete who has said, he doe snot like throwing to the middle due to more chances for a batted ball, and deflected balls becoming TOs. However, as the chart shows Wilson is very good at it. The only place on the field he seems to struggle is thrown in the middle behind the LOS which I presume are middle screens.

Now as to Paxton Lynch he is a career 76.7 QB rating and 61.7 Complt%. and a 1-1 td/int ratio, He is not coming to take over for Wilson despite whatever false narrative some writer is trying to cook up. He is here to compete for backup

I would have thought he would have mentioned that to Bevell prior to the last SB we were in, or did he just say that recently.

Nope he has said that many times over the years, another reason why that play call was so weird

Anthony there’s damn lies and statistics . Stats don’t tell the whole story. We can see with our eyes the things Russ does best and the things that are harder for him. Lots of those throws inside he bails out and doesn’t throw it which isn’t going to show up on the stat line. Look no further than super bowl 49 to see the throws he’s not as good at or comfortable with. Love the guy but everyone has their Achilles heel.

And there are people who see what they want to see and people who actually use the facts and stats to decide if what they see is true. I do the later. I see what I see in the games and then use the facts and stats and what coaches and players say to support is. This leads to the fact that he has no problem throwing in the middle, and the HC has said he does not like to throw over the middle. Facts don't tell you everything but they ar lot better than trying to convince someone your opinion base dont what you see is right even though the stats and facts say otherwise. FYI the SB issue proves nothing as there was a lot of things wrong starting with the play itself, to the throw, to the failed rub, to the route itself being run bad. I mean really you got one play that you are using to say he can't, and I am supposed to buy that over the year-long stats showing otherwise. Yeah not=. The FACTS and Stats who he can and do it very well. As to these supposed throws he bails on, fine show me a stats showing how many there are, until then all you got is your opinion with no fact to support it, while I got my opinion supported by facts. Lets see no facts vs facts yeah facts win every time with anyone who is objective.
