Beast mode for the win!

This is clearly deserving of a new thread. https://t.co/MPm8zReONu?amp=1

Let’s go! I mean 33 isn’t that old right? Imagine if he is in tiptop shape as well. I think he knows the offense —it’s at least similar to Bevell’s. More explosive.

Its pretty much the same as Bevel, and I am not as up on this as you. I see problems coming, especially if Lynch comes in thinking it's his team, or if PC figures he can just run the old offense of run adn long throws. Like we did this past weekend after the first drive.

IMO it's more a feeling of nostalgia than it is a realistic hope that he still has some tread on his tires that's driving things. Lynch might be in good physical condition but that's different than being in good football shape. However, if anybody can get used to contact, it's Beast.

The emotional reaction of the 12s alone could help. We have a lot to overcome, so I don’t see it as a fix all - but I rather like it. He won’t be asked to do much Sunday, but we have a game the following week too. It’s better than what we had prior to his signing and hell, it’s Christmas. Time for family to come on home. #beastmode #retireahawk!

I agree, and I certainly don't have any objections to signing him or Turbin. At this point, we really don't have anything to lose, and Lord knows that our 12's can use an emotional kick in the pants. As was pointed out in another thread, our home crowd isn't nearly as intimidating as it used to be. At the very worst, we can give Beast a big thank you and a fitting send off into retirement.

As always, it's good to see you posting. Merry Christmas, Sis!

I hope I'm wrong but sentiment didn't work when the Mariners resigned Ichiro and I see this working out much the same. Lynch wasn't a straight line burner even in his youth but back then he did have quick feet that allowed him to slip a lot of would be tackles. That's what I saw as being missing at the end of his career.

I just saw some talking heads on TV this morning and they were discussing Lynch and apparently early
in the year when the run game wasn't doing well, the coaches took the RB's into the film room and
showed them tapes of how Lynch ran the ball. After that, the run game took off. The comment from
one of them was even if Lynch only has a few plays, the attitude can affect the rest of the team just
from his effort. As well, they commented on him being a good pass blocking RB who
isn't afraid of knocking a defender on his can if given a chance.

On a side note it must be a bit of a thrill for Homer to now be sharing a locker room with Lynch.
I hope some of the intensity rubs off on him.

So show the film to the Hawks. But can Lynch still demonstrate that on the field? If not, it could have the opposite effect.

With one game left in the regular season, of which Lynch probably won't see any action, and the playoffs, I don't think there's too much concern of an adverse effect.

So do you think Travis Homer will get essentially all the carries against San Fran or are you thinking Turbin will get some rather than Lynch.

Who is better at pass blocking, Lynch or Turbin? That might be a more relevant question.

I'll bet Lynch gets at least a dozen snaps this week.

Maybe a dozen snaps, but I'll bet he gets less than half that in touches. This is a different offense than what he's used to.

To answer trent's question about pass blocking, although no Mack Strong, who IMO is the best blocking RB in franchise history, Beast held his own in pass blocking assignments, and that's probably how we'll use him this weekend, ie in 3rd down passing situations. Not as sure about Turbin's ability as a blocker.

We'll see a lot of Travis Homer this Sunday. Huge opportunity for him to rise to the occasion. Someone's going to have to if we are to have a snowball's chance in hell of winning. Russell can't do it all by himself.

Travis Homer has speed but hes 5'10" 200. We need a bowling ball.Lets see if Lynch can turn back the clock for 4 games.

I'm more fascinated that ever to see what happens. This is really quite an unbelievable story, unlike anything in the history of the team.

Chris Carson, Raashad Penny, and Beast are all 5'11" and in the 215-220 lb range. That's not a huge difference.

Yea, me, too. There have been successful comebacks, but this one has a Ken Griffey/Ichrio feel to it in that it's more a nostalgic dream of Christmas past than a present day reality. But we'll see. It definitely adds some intrigue to the last couple of games.

I don't expect too much output from Lynch, but it will be nice for the fans in attendance
to say a proper good bye to Marshawn and thanks for a job well done.

Carson is 222. Penney and Prosise are 220. That’s 10% heavier and Carson ran angry too, tied for 1st in the league in broken tackles. A lot of those 1250 yards were after contact .

I obviously wish the young man well but homer had 17 yards his first carry and -1 the rest of the game. As we know in his prime lynch led the league in forced missed tackles by a mile.its just how much tread is left on the tires and can they get in synch in a week

Merry Xmas 12's! Hope all is well and you have a great 2020!!!!

As far as Sundays game I am positive to some degree that the Niners will win a good game. Nice to see Lynch back and it will be interesting to see how he does.

See ya Sunday

I never pick Seattle to lose but I’m expecting to lose by 14 at least. 9ers are near full strength and Seattle is seemingly gutted. They either need to somehow generate a run game or Russ needs to be superhuman. The d also needs to play out of their mind. They played their best game of the year at San Francisco. Oh well stranger things have happened. Merry Christmas to a classy fan and may the best luckiest smiled upon by the officials or whatever team win.

Here is the complete text of Marshawn Lynch's comments in his press conference with the media yesterday:

“Happy Holidays. Merry New Year. Y’all have a great day,” said Lynch. “It’s a great feeling to be back.”

That's more words to the press than Lynch said altogether in his entire previous stint with Seattle.

Thoughts on Lynches performance?

His TD was awesome. The long run was well blocked but you gotta set up your blocks and get to the hole . The plays he got stuffed including the 4th and 3 there were more 9ers than Seahawks in the backfield. He looks half a step slow, a bit in decline but still not bad for 18 months away at 33 years old    .

I gotta shout out to Homer too. He's got wheels, he runs bigger than he is and seems excellent at setting up and following his blocks. He also looks like a great receiver.

Although it wasn't for lack of effort, Beast was not much of a factor. But we were still able to gain more yards rushing (125) than the Niners' season average (113), which is pretty amazing when you consider how many offensive players we were down (Brown, Carson, Penny, Prosise, Willson, Britt). We just didn't get them when we needed it most.
