That might be a possible compromise.
Agent 86 wrote:Interesting indeed. Just read on Rotoworld the 'Skins are shopping him as he is entering a contract year. 27 years old, 6'2", 202 lbs, and was PFF's #2 CB overall last year. Says he typically plays 1 side of the field a la Sherman. Says a day 2 draft pick is what it will probably take to get him.

EDIT:It is for a 5th round draft pick in 2020 for Dunbar.

Thanks for the scoop CBob!

No Clowney, Lost QJeff and Al Woods - signed Bruce Irvin.
They're still going to have to get someone to put pressure on the QB and stop the run
even if they re-sign Clowney.

most select before us in what is said to be a shallow draft for DL and Edge rushers.
Agent 86 wrote:He cannot be any worse than Jaron Brown can he? I had it with Brown, so glad they are moving on from him. Dorsett could be a decent 3rd WR behind Lockett and DK, maybe a guy that can thrive on RW3's scrambling abilities. I really think they needed a somewhat veteran presence as their #3, so glad they addressed it. Wouldn't be surprised if they added another vet to battle Moore, Ursua, and Turner for the #4 and #5 spots.

NorthHawk wrote:According to ESPN, he's 6-5 and 324 lbs so we aren't losing any size without Ifedi and they are approx. the same age. We might not see any fall off in productivity once he gets used to the system and Fluker or whoever the RG is.

I must have missed that one. Thanks for the heads up.
It's odd that it's just a one year deal. I'm shocked that he didn't get better terms. This has to be one of those coronavirus casualties.

Obi, my friend, let's just hope this isn't one of those cases of "Be careful what you wish for, you might get it!"
There has to be a reason why the Jets opted to part ways with Shell yet embarked on a very dubious signing of George Fant, giving him a contract way over his perceived value. This isn't a slam dunk, no brainer move, exchanging Ifedi for Shell in order to save a few bucks. Let's see how it pans out before we start turning cartwheels.

One year, $2.3MM. $500K guaranteed. $500K signing bonus (Twitter link via Brady Henderson of ESPN.com).
If I read this correctly, if he doesn't make it past TC it will only cost $500,000 - or if we want to clear some
Cap space we could save $2million by cutting him.

NorthHawk, who do you think are possible candidates to get cut pre June 1st right now?
Britt - $8.5 million savings (not so sure I want this even though there are rumours, when healthy, he seems to be a difference maker for the O-line)
Dickson - $3 million savings(this one appears to be a no brainer)
KJ Wright? - $6.5 million savings
Fluker? - $3.7 million savings
T. Thompson? - $2.1 million savings
D. Moore? - $2.1 million savings
Wondering based on what someone said in the Clowney thread if they are trying to find more cap space to pay Clowney for a longer term deal?
