Tom Flores Voted Into HOF

Postby RiverDog » Sun Feb 07, 2021 6:55 pm

But likely not due to his time with us:

1991 2-14
1992 6-10
1993 6-10

I agree! He took over a great organization from Madden, and they found Plunkett, the most underrated great QB of all time, I don't think he was HOF material myself, but that's just me.

Yep. Flores has been eligible for HOF induction for over 20 years, and there was a reason why he was overlooked for so long. In Oakland, he was a stooge for Al Davis, whom effectively ran the team. He was a miserable failure with us and never got a whiff of another team after he was fired. His regular season W/L record was only 10 games above .500 and only 6 of his teams won more games than they lost. In his 12 seasons as HC, his teams finished 4th place or lower 7 times. The only feather in his cap are the two Lombardi's, and if that's the standard, you can put Tom Coughlin in there with him.

That must have been some pretty potent hash the HOF committee was smoking to have put Flores in a gold jacket. They really have lowered the bar with this induction.

Agree completely. All the players called Al Davis "Coach" - I think Flores was the ultimate game manager. He completely sucked when he had to do it on his own.
