I think that part of it is Pete's seeming philosophy of run, run, throw deep, run, run, throw deep. If we can see trends and tendencies, I think much more sophisticated observers like pre game scouts and opposing DC's can see it much better.
Regarding the OL, we didn't draft players that fit what we wanted to do and Cable had a 4 or 5 year experiment trying to convert under performing DL to the OL. Then let them go when they didn't fit our Offense. Glowinski is probably the biggest
failure on our part in that he left here only to be a solid starter on one of the better OL's with the Colts. Carpenter didn't pan out on the edge, but has had a solid journeyman career at Guard. We took a gamble on Ifedi without knowing if he could
play with his hand in the dirt. It remains to be seen if he can last like Carpenter for another 5 years and have a good career. Britt found a home at Center, but we have never drafted a solid LT since Okung and he was hurt a lot.
I've resigned myself to the fact that our FO doesn't know how to build a good OL. They haven't done it in 10 years so I doubt things will change.
