Seahawks hire Jeff Ireland as a draft consultant

Apparently it's a temporary solution and I guess it's to fill the void of McCloughan leaving.
We'll see what happens after the draft.

This is just strange. I really can't wrap my head around it. This is the last guy you would think to bring in to a franchise to make it better.

I'd rather they bring him in after the draft:)

I dunno. I doubt he sticks.

LOL. Those comments are pretty funny. The general theme is, Seahawks bandwagon, clueless fans need to get prepared for a consultant ( and as far as I know for this draft only) is going to decimate this franchise, and they will never win again. Funny thing is, I simply didn't see a lot of Seahawks fans in the comments ( and to be quite honest, haven't seen some insane amount of Seahawks fans in ANY comment sections across the boards, in really any topic) but man the amount of concern from other fan bases is palpable. Their scared, and grasping at straws to give them hope.

When that happens, you KNOW your franchise has been doing things right. Love it. ( though I can't say I love anything to do with bringing Ireland in). Makes me :)

I heard Gil Brandt this morning saying he thought it was a good idea.
He thinks Ireland is a good judge of talent and has learned under Parcells what to look for.
Brandt thought his problem was in the other areas - obviously.

Keep in mind, he's not replacing Pete or John - he's just another set of eyes with an outside PoV.

How does a draft consultant sign a suspended/blackballed aging mediocre guard to a team?
