Football History Lesson

Postby RiverDog » Thu May 15, 2014 9:39 am

I posted this in another thread that had gone astray, but I feel very confident that if you guys have the time, that you'll like a couple of things I want to pass along to you die hard football fans. It is the offseason, so if you get bored, here's a couple of things that you can do that might enhance your enjoyment of the game as it did mine.

The first is a very good book I've read twice titled "America's Game", and no, it's not about the Dallas Cowboys.

The second is a YouTube link of a series about the history of the AFL entitled "Full Color Football". I saw it on NFL Network, recorded it and watched it a number of times.

I lived a lot of that stuff, from the early 60's on, so I'll apologize in advance if it seems like I'm living in the past.

I saw your orig post on this and thank you for this thread River.
Many people forget that the game was played well before SB 1. And that Detroit was a team that started in 1929, but have NEVER been to a Superbowl. And there are other teams with that distinction as well. Im not as old as you but I read.
Anyway, thanks for the info, and youtube vid. Will check out the vid first chance I get.
