One of the most mentioned tryout players in the weekend mini-camp, this guy might slip onto the 90 man roster...but somebody else has to be cut to slide him on.

Exactly what I was thinking. Hope he makes it. Not too thrilled to see the issue of his smarts come up. Talent versus smarts. Looks to me when he was on, he was on, even though he was not the brightest student. Mixed feelings about this one.
But yes, on a personal level, I hope the kid makes it wherever he plays.

No matter his story, he might just make it as a punt return guy at first.
If his abilities as a CB relate well to our system, he might be a good fit for a couple of years down the road.

I don't know about that. Kind of doubt they keep someone to return punts that doesn't add more than that to the team. There are several guys currently on the roster that can return punts, and have value on other units, so in order for him to stick, I think he is going to have to proved valuable on the defense ( at least to a 5th corner type value) to even be a consideration. Sucks for guys like this, but with teams like this, it becomes even more difficult to stick. Hell a LOT of the players the Seahawks carry aren't just good at one position, but multiple positions, so I just don't see a PR making it ( well unless he is Devon Hester good).

I looked at the list of signings and I don't see his name. Was I looking at an outdated list or did they not invite him to TC?

I'd like to see us put Lockette back there.

But who ever they put back there needs to have the best hands on the team. Fumbled punts are absolute killers as they almost always happen deep in your own territory and always happens after the defense is feeling good for having gotten off the field without yielding points. Tate did a fantastic job of returning punts. I can't ever remember him losing a fumbled punt. Just put someone back there and tell him all he's supposed to do is fair catch.

Baldwin and Lane have returned punts for this team in the pre season , Richardson says he wants to attempt it ( though not sure how that works out) there are a couple guys that have done so before showing up here ( though I don't know what they offer in other parts of the team so I'll leave them off for now). The three listed brings production in other areas, that doesn't mean they are a shoo in to be the returner, just that they can. Typically teams don't carry a "PR" Devon Hester is the only one I can think of in recent memory, and they continued to attempt to have him contribute all over the team, trying to "manufacture" value at DB or WR . Not saying the kid can't return punts, just that IMHO he better be good enough to contribute in other areas, because they aren't going to keep him to JUST return punts.

Nanook, I didn't see Wolfe's name show up until his name appeared on a list last Thursday ... he was one of a half dozen or so adds to the "tryout" list.

And the OL they signed, Nate Isles, never showed up on any list of tryout players ... and none of the sources covering the tryouts mentioned him ... until ... all of a sudden, he is signed as one of the two tryout playes signed to date.

Admittedly, there are a lot of numbers running around over there and the media's eyes are flitting around between players and lists of names and numbers ... still, they should be at least somewhat embarrassed when nobody had this guy picked out.

Admittedly, many in the media did pick out the other tryout player the Hawks signed to the 90 man, TE Rashaun Allen. Of course, their sources on the coaching staff could have pointed that out to the scribes.

Don't be surprised if you see one or two more names added to the 90 man who were in for tryouts.

The two guys I see as the most likely PR candidates are Lane and Christine Michael.
