In a thirteen-year career with the Seahawks – the only team for which he ever played – over 180 games, roughly 9,000 plays, and protecting nine different starting quarterbacks, Walter Jones was called for holding penalties…NINE TIMES. He allowed a grand career total of TWENTY-THREE quarterback sacks
Walt got called for holding about as many times as Steve Largent dropped a pass.
A pretty good read in the link where I found the graphic...

My pop edified me of the error in my judgement. Walt might have held out but he got franchised, and to my dad that was important. Out of all the higher profile players a team could choose for the tag they picked the LT because he was arguably the best player in the game. And besides, as my dad liked to point out, he wasn't exactly sitting around eating pizza while the other guys sweated it out. He was pushing trucks around with nothing but his own brute force.
No more deserving dude to go into the Hall. And seeing those stats, holy jeebus, it's darn near unfathomable that an O lineman of Walter's ability played that cleanly.

Holmgren once said Walt was the best player he ever coached - and that's saying a lot considering he coached Montana and Rice.
To me, that's all that needs be said.
What puzzles me is that his name is not in the ring of honor, does anyone know why?

It's a foregone conclusion- we already retired his number. He's only been retired, what, 5 years? Has anyone gone in more quickly?

He's already in the ROH. He's been there since 2010.

I'll turn in my 12 card and you guys can decide when it's appropriate to reissue.
