sam bradford hurt

Postby rottweiler » Sat Aug 23, 2014 5:53 pm

Saw it on NFL RedZone a few minutes ago.

It looks bad. Really bad.

His knees.

Maybe someone who has a clip of the video feed can post a clip of it here.

Fingers crossed for the guy.

Yup. That's the clip.

Thanks for posting it, guy.

I feel sorry for Bradford, but I ain't ashamed to say that I kinda feel sorry for Rams fans who've been waiting for five years now to see him last a full season.

This season is likely his last chance.

Did he walk off under his own power? The picture in the article makes it appear as if he did. If they didn't immobilize it, it's probably not a season ender, but being that it's the same knee he had surgery on, they'll probably hold him out at least several weeks.

He did. And initial evaluation (MRI?) was negative. Would be a shame if he went down. I still think he is a good QB that has been stuck in a bad situation. Hopefully he is ok.

Glad he's not seriously injured. But even so, I'll betcha they hold him out for the first few regular season games. It didn't appear to be that vicious of a hit, the defender sort of let up at the end. If his knee can't stand up to something like that, it's only a matter of time before he hurts it again.

I agree. I've always kinda liked Bradford and I hate to see any division rival hit with injuries. It just watters everything down. I am sure we'll know soon if the prelim reports are accurate.

Even when I played competitive sports, I hated to see opponents get hurt, not just from a humanitarian POV, but also because I wanted to beat them at their best, so there were no excuses.

I am pretty sure they haven't done an MRI yet, probably tomorrow, but initial diagnosis is ACL is ok. This was probably determined by an knee stability test by team Doc or trainer. MRI could reveal something else though. I am hoping he is ok, but I agree it didn't look good. It could be more of a 'scare' for him. I have never had a serious knee injury but mentally getting over it I am sure is very hard.

Earliest reports are that Bradford & the Rams may have dodged a bullet.

http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/136981/rams-optimistic-about-bradfords-knee

>>>>>>After the game and some goading, Rams coach Jeff Fisher indicated that the injury could be little more than a hyperextension. He added that Bradford was walking around fine and in good spirits in the locker room.

"We’ll go back and do tests tomorrow and we’re optimistic for his quick return," Fisher said. <<<<<<<<<

Honestly to me, it didn't look serious ( at least the hit) the reaction made it look bad, but personally, I'm thinking it was a reaction brought on by the worry over the repaired knee ( much like the Macklin knee incident the night before). I think he'll be fine, but I would be concerned if I was a Rams fan about what is going through Bradfords head, sometimes mentally players are never quite the same fearless player, regardless of actual physical health ( ala Zorn after the broken leg).

Wow, I'm shocked. Poor guy can't catch a break. I felt he was another Joe Montana coming out of college. It's going to be really difficult for him to come back after this one. I wish him the best of luck.

Wow, really didn't believe it would be serious. Might be time to cut him loose for St. Louis. He simply can't stay healthy, that sucks for him, but at least he has made enough that he could retire and never worry about money again for the rest of his life.

I don't think he can ("never worry about money again ...").

He hasn't ever been healthy enough for a full season to earn any kind of bigtime contract incentives, and his agent has prolly taken a serious chunk of most of his spare change.

He got his new SUV when he was signed as a rook six years ago, and I just hope for his sake that he's kept it in good shape.

Tough break.

I wasn't buying the Rams' chances this season before this happened, but they are now, more or less, on the clock for next year.

Pretty obvious at this point that they need to find their next franchise QB. Bradford's heath has been shaky for awhile, but this latest injury just about seals his fate in Stl.

Can't take 'em lightly when we play them this year, but whoever ends up starting for them is in for a long season.

A whole buncha names about to be poppin' up on the availability list.

Obviously, they'll keep the vet Shaun Hill. But I won't be at all surprised to see those other QBs gone by tomorrow.

I feel badly for Bradford.

I feel badly for Rams fans.

I feel terribly badly for Jeff Fisher.

Bet he's already got a plan in the works, though.

True, but didn't he sign like a seventy million dollar guaranteed contract as a rookie? Pretty sure he is A-OK.

Edit: My mistake fifty million guarantedd with an additional ten already secured ( so sixty million made so far) 18 million still available to be earned..

Ahhh, so true.

Bet honeys in micro-minis, fishnets and double-pump platforms took a whole buncha that, too, though — the emphasis there on whole. :D

Yeah, Bradford was one of the last QBs that singed under the old post draft contract methods. Since he was the number one overall pick he got maximum money with $50 million guaranteed. Money will never be his issue, but recovering from a revisionary ACL operation may be.
