I don't see him talking any smack, or dissing anyone that is the difference between winning and losing, did he say Nelson or Rodgers were jokes? no, he said he is praying for that ROOKIE center in an enviroment that is insanely difficult for all pro veteran centers to excell in, in a situation that is going to be extremely difficult to deal with ( historically so), he said that they have to take advantage of the weakness' they have seen ( which is the same with every team, and player in the league)... these statement IMHO are akin to saying the sky is blue, or the grass is green. There is no insults I see in anything in that interview, no smack talk that I saw, he didn't for instance say the guy was m-e-d-i-o-c-r-e. or Sorry or anything, that is reserved for players that ARE, so what's the beef?

Personally, if Mathews said he saw weakness' in our rookie RT, it wouldn't cause me a moments pause, because he DOES have weakness' and a player saying so, is just a fact of being a rookie in the NFL. nothing more than calling a spade a spade.

I don't disagree with that. To me the difference is Irvin isn't going head to head against this guy at all. If Sherm were to say a wide receiver he was going to face every play had weaknesses I wouldn't care that much, but to me Irvin talking about a guy he isn't going to line up against is where it is a little smack talk to me, again not a big deal, but to me it was like 'why are you saying this?'

I disagree...well partly.
Yes we won because of talent, BUT we also won because Pete allows the players on this team to be themselves, even when being yourself means talking trash.
The teams brashness, confidence and attitude was a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE part of why they won it all last season.
If you take away the swagger, the trash talking and the attitude, then this team doesn't win the Superbowl.
Just listen to the way Earl Thomas talks about the brashness and the confidence, (from which stems the trash talking), and you will quickly realize that it's all a part of this teams persona, and it is NOT something that we won in spite of!
