Who Are You Going to Root For?

Postby jshawaii22 » Fri Sep 26, 2014 3:25 am

On one hand, Philly comes into Levi's in Santa Clara Stadium 3-0 and already a game ahead of us for Home Field advantage.

On the other, We just all hate the 49ers...

Who is it when you watch Sunday? I have to think that chasing down Philly will be very tough. They have 6 relatively easier wins in the NFC East then we will have in the West. Our last month, AZ, SF, Phily, SF, AZ is a mugging waiting to happen. As it's more important to win your division first, I'm rooting for Philly. We just may have to accept going East to play them in the NFC Championship.

I kinda follow what coaches say are their priorities...worry about winning the division first, not to mention that I'd love to watch Kaep, Hairball, and that whole slimy mess known at the 49'ers wallow in their own gravy.

So I'll be rooting for the Eagles. It's too early to start worrying about HFA and besides, we get our own shot at the Eagles.

This is a serious question? How could anyone possibly root for Squidward and the whiners?

I have two favorite teams, the Seahawks, and whoever is playing the Niners.
I cannot stand that team, they make me physically ill. From their stupid looking, wannbe-thug QB to their ranting, idiot coach, to their dregs-of-society filled roster, that team makes me want to throw up. I hate their colors, their city, their stupid name...I could never, ever root for the Niners.

LOL! Thanks, monkey...I got a pretty good belly laugh out of your rant. I'm with ya in that I'm anti Niners, but only as it relates to our own success. I don't have as deep and bitter of a hatred towards them as you do.

The only team that I have that high of a disregard for is the Cowboys, and that's mainly because of Jerry Jones. I still haven't gotten over the way he treated Tom Landry.

Never going to root for the ketchup and mustard clad 'niners. I respect a few of their players. I don't wish them ill. But root for them? NFW.

The eagles are more of a threat to us for HFA than the Niners are so I'll be rooting against the Eagles.

Won't be rooting one way or the other. One of them will take a loss which I suppose is good for the Seahawks so that's good enough for me.

Philly. Go for the knockout punch! It matters way more to knock out our chief division rival. We will worry about Philly later

I hope they both beat each other up, but I have to go with Philly. IMO the sooner we can get the niners to implode the better. This increases the chances that Harbaugh leaves in the off-season, which is good for us because he is a great X's and O's coach. Also, if they can hold on until they get healthy and Smith comes back from suspension they will be very tough, which could get them into the playoffs at which point they can beat anybody. Philly hasn't shown me enough yet to be a legitimate concern to us and our playoff position. Obviously that can change, but as of right now its Philly all the way. At the same time its a win win either way.

It's a win/win, as either outcome is good for us.

I fall more in line with having SF lose, though.

Not rooting for Philly is crazy. Take care of your division before you start worrying about HFA. Funny how the 3 and 0 Cardinals haven't been mentioned. HFA thinking at this point is pointless. It's all about week to week.

Philly.
I want to see Hairball whining and cursing the refs. I want to see Kaep confused as usual.I want the Eagles to crush them and certify the big zipper as a house of horrors for the homeowners. I never want to watch them celebrate.

I'm with Monkey, 9ers make me want to vomit.

The HFA is too far off to worry about. Seeing the 9ers buried farther down OUR division table is a bigger priority. Besides as a Duck Alum I like Chippy more than Hairball.

Don't sugar coat it Monkey, tell us like it is. That being said, I have to agree with you. It gives me great joy to see the 49'ers floundering about in their self imposed disarray, coupled with stupidity, disorganization,& most importantly, lack of identity that they're wallowing in. I wish them much more of the same for this, & many seasons to come.....oh yeah, Philly.

Glad to see we're almost all in agreement... *** cough, Bob, cough***... but bury the 49ers now is the winner and the agreement for all the Hawk fans.

It would surprise me for many Hawks fans to pull for any NFC West foe in any game, well pretty much ever, at least four weeks into the season. Bury the f#$ckers when you can, worry about the rest later. Philly, will at some point not find a way out of a first half hole they put themselves in, the Niners will eventually figure out how to not implode in the second half, hopefully it isn't this week ;)

Monkey's response made me wake the household. The more I tried not to laugh, the louder a spit/grunted/laughed etc. thanks for that.

I fate the hiners! Their misery is almost as good as our victory. Go eagles. A tie might be nice, but if that can't happen - niners losing will work. If the niners win, I can console myself w/ "it's the best for HFA."

At this point in the season you gotta root for the eagles. Winning the division comes first.

Now, if this was late in the season and the niners were out of contention then I would root for the niners to help us win hfa and also to give them a worse draft position.

You did note that I said I would be rooting against one team as opposed to for the other, yes? If they could both lose I'd be all for that.

I'm looking forward to another 49er defeat ~ the theater of Harbaugh whining and the blank gaze from Kaep is priceless. We'll get our shot at the Eagles.

On another note, it's nice to see Carolina and Chicago (division leaders) each getting their a$$es handed to them.

Whoever picked the Refs is winning... the game is brutal to watch with all the penalties. I get the NFL is cleaning up the game, but a flag on every other play is ridiculous.

Ugly game at the 1/2. Penalty Flags dominate. Phily: TD by blocked punt, INT to the house and a Punt return. NO offense at all.

Philly played some of the worst offense I've seen today - 0 points from that unit, lol.

213 Total yds on offense, with a 17:43 T.O.P.

Their D did manage 4 Sacks and force 5 punts, but they gave up 218 rush yds, including 119 to Gore, who had a 5.0 avg.

Bottom line: Philly isn't as good as their record suggests, IMO.

No shame in losing on the road, but this game was only close because of some sloppiness by SF on special teams.

Old but Slow wrote:Not to forget, Santa Clara has a good defense, despite the problems. And, maybe, Foles is not as good as some have been saying. A flash in the pan? Or just a bad day at the office? We have been trying to bury the Niners, and have virtually written them off, but they are still a viable rival, and will have to be dealt with. Suddenly Gore is looking like a running back again. And the offense did some good things. Interesting first half, though, finding ways to help the other team score without an offense. A strange strategy, really.

They have talent, and may be a good team despite their coach. Or schoolmaster, or whatever.

I know that the Niners D played pretty well, but it's still a mystery as to why the Niners didn't at least try to run the ball. 12 carries out of 56 total plays? Sproles carried once in the game? Kelly has a lot of splain'in to do.

You meant the Eagles ... and I agree they should have run the ball on that last series, but Not Sproles on the goal line, not when you've got Shady McCoy!

Yep, I meant the Eagles.

And I wasn't saying that the Eagles should have ran Sproles in the red zone, I was merely noting that he had just one carry the entire game, a game in which the Eagles led for much of the way and with Foles having a pretty tough day.

I think McCoy was banged up, but that shouldn't have stopped them from at least making an attempt at establishing some sort of running game. It's not like they were forced into throwing.

That was a horrible game. It felt like bears - niners part 2. Sloppy, penalty laden w/ coaching moves (on both sides) that eft u scratching your head. Hand it to the niners D & Gore, but chip Kelly looked more like chump Kelly to me.

On that last drive they should have given McCoy at least one (if not two) more attempts to punch it in IMO. But the reason they were so pass heavy is twofold.

1. McCoy was banged up and he hasn't been running well, not breaking arm tackles and such..

2. And more importantly their OL was decimated by injuries/suspensions and their back ups were in turn being decimated by the 49ers defensive line.

Probably still wanted a better balance but they were getting no push at all. I think they averaged less than 2 yards per carry or something.

maybe, Foles is not as good as some have been saying.

I'm not sure there were ever many people sold on Foles. Many people believe his production is completely a product of Chip Kelly's system. Even if he was good, there is no way to maintain that TD to INT ratio he had last year. But I suspect he isn't really all that great of a QB. He threw to a lot of wide open receivers last year (especially early in the season). And he hasn't been very good when teams get pressure on him as evidenced by this game against SF. They got pressure and he flat out couldn't move the ball all day.
