Chiefs "break" record again

Postby Stream Hawk » Mon Sep 29, 2014 8:42 pm

Challenge is set for any and all 12s going to the next recorded game! I really doubt the fans in kc can match us! I haven't read the specs, but it's likely flawed like last year:)

One of my best buddy is a Chief fan and he's already talking smack

Eh, I am focussed on shinier, more important things. If they need to "plan" something Seattle breaks spontaneously so be it ( with an extra 10k to boot) Seattle makes that noise consistently, I'm sure if we all wanted to wait, save our voices and then all do it on a timed basis, we could take it back. Ultimately though, it isn't a big deal.

I'm very dubious of these so-called noise records anyway. Anytime Guinness wants some more publicity, they announce that they're going to a stadium, C-Link or Arrowhead, and set up their testing equipment and like magic, a new record is set. Have they ever showed up at a stadium where the crowd failed to break the record?

Not that I've seen yet (sample size of, what, 3 or 4?).

Heh, love that song, I always think of that song when I just don't give a rat's backside about something, someone is trying to foist upon me.
Seeing the video, the way that he sings it, and the look on his face really tells the story that he REALLY just doesn't care anymore.

Four attempts, four records. Was there ever any doubt that they'd break the record?

Being noisy on cue isn't exactly the same as being so loud that it causes opponent's false starts. Who is winning that competition?

Anyway, it's a fair deal. They can be the loudest stadium and we'll be the one with the Lombardi.

It was kind of neat when the Seahawks first did it. Felt like an inferiority complex when Kansas City felt the need to answer. Stupid that Seattle felt the need to answer back. Pathetic that Kansas City decided they truly needed to fight over this meaningless footnote.

For the love of God Seattle let the baby have it's bottle. This whole thing is pointless.

For as long as I can remember Arrowhead stadium was known as the loudest stadium in the NFL. Even in the days of the Kingdome it was acknowledged that both Arrowhead and Mile High stadiums were the loudest. That is why I was so angered at Pat Bowlen we he pushed for the rule that punished fans of domed stadiums for being loud, his stadium was louder but the NFL wasn't going to punish open air stadiums or their crowds.

Then along comes Century Link and all of our opponents getting false start penalties and QBs going crazy because of the noise. I will say, I didn't see (or hear) any of the loudness that we routinely see at the Clink during last nights broadcast. There were no false starts by the Pats and Brady wasn't discombobulated by the noise. heck, that cameras were not bouncing all over like you see at one of our games. I mean, when we are setting a new noise record the broadcasters can't even hear themselves think let alone talk and the cameras are all jiggling the picture. There was none of that at Arrowhead last night. The broadcasters had no problem communicating like they would have here in Seattle.

If the folks in KC want the record bad enough they can have it, like someone said we will take the Lombardi over the noise record every time.

Kal's thoughts pretty much mirror mine on this, but I wondered about this, too.

It was only after Quest/CenturyLink was built, and opponents started struggling mightily with the noise, that "loudest in the NFL" became "You can hardly hear yourself think".

Was it always that way in Kansas City? Is it that way now, too, and the announcers just don't think it's as interesting a story for some reason?

I really wondered after seeing last night they didn't just reclaim the record- they *obliterated* the old one (it was 137.5db, then we got 137.6db, and this time they got 142.2db, a pretty hefty increase on a logarithmic scale).

Maybe they should be measuring from the middle of the field?

Meh. Whatever.

I'm just glad the Chiefs are playing some decent football heading into SF. This was looking like an automatic win for the 49ers just a couple weeks ago, even though they themselves were playing poorly.
