Not if we don't designate him on IR. I'm not sure if there is a rule that you have to designate a player on IR if he's hurt. You would just have dead weight taking up a roster spot.
Doesn't matter at this point, the Hawks were never getting rid of the guy as some speculated as a possibility.

That's what I'm worried about Steady. What if the dude is coming back just to "do what he has to do" to keep his contract rolling?
I hope I'm wrong but given his past I wouldn't put it past him.
Hawktawk wrote:Did Harvin really say the "haters" are why hes practicing? OMG Im not sure I want him playing. Looks to me like he is cherry picking again. He was *ready* weeks ago facing his hated former team and he looked explosive. Then the hip "flared up" for 5 straight games. But now with the Hawks on primetime with HFA he suddenly might be ready again. HMMMM. All I really know is in the game he played Tate had one reception. Give me Tate 50 times ahead of Harvin. F him.
Hawktawk wrote:Ive said repeatedly I hope Im wrong with my instincts about PH. I really hope he can come in and contribute without killing team chemistry. But looking at how this has unfolded I get the dstinct feeling that Percy is all about Percy and nobody else. He will play when he wants and when he doesnt want to he will have some nagging thing keeping him on the bench. I have a very hard time beleiving that players who have gone to battle and fought through pain and injury to get Seattle here are going to be real impressed when this prima donna is suddenly good to go gobbling up touches and skimming the cream off the top.Not to mention eating up a huge chunk of salary for doing it.
As I say, hope hes the Super Bowl MVP. Just suspicious and nervous.
Steady_Hawk wrote:The video Hawkstar posted above absolutely answers the question as to why Pete seemed to go from Dr.Jekyll to Mr.Hyde in one day. Percy showed him he's ready to play after his morning interviews. Awesomeness is all I have to say about the subject.

This Harvin issue has been a VERY touchy subject that has even caused division between "fans". This is without question the most respectful, balanced, thread I have read anywhere on the net, with everyone allowed to express their opinion, on this subject. How easy it is sometimes to forget we are all actually on the same side.

It always amazes me how some posters feel compelled to attack anything that goes against the grain of their own beliefs. What a boring world it would be if everyone agreed on everything. Debate is healthy, attacking another person's opinion, if well thought out, is grounds for an ass-kicking, IMHO. ; )
Not playing the docile one here, I myself can get quite agitated / animated, but I would never in a billion years say anything to someone on the net, that I wouldn't say in person. If everyone practiced that, I think the internet would be heaps better.
There are forums where uninformed scrubs go out of their way to irritate others. One person might say " I have Lynch a top 3 RB, but as of late, I notice he's missing some gaps he usually hits. I hope he's not wearing down".
Numbnuts replies with "oh yeah, who do YOU think you are? I'd like to see YOU do better"!
It's just all very stupid.

Those responses are what drives me insane. Replies such as "We're 13-3 with HFA" or "you think you know more than Pete Carroll?" are mindless, catch all canned responses that requires very little if any thought and are intended to mute a poster by posing an irrefutable, irrelevant statement rather than using a rational argument to defeat their thesis.

One thing everyone can agree on is that we all want Percy on the field contributing to the team - and if Percy is giving his best effort then you can be sure that everyone at the Shack and Seahawk fans everywhere will support Percy whether he ends up being successful or not.

Holding Percy Accountable when the media would not.
I still credit this thread and the contributions by members here at the shack with instigating the first public questioning (when the local press lackey's wouldn't) and eventual shaming of Percy Harvin back on to the playing field..... where we got the $12 million kickoff run back TD and 40 yard jet sweep in the Superbowl.
Good riddance Percy - You are one hell of a talent and I wish it would have worked out. But it didn't and the blame for the failure is all yours.

Thanks for digging up this old thread, savvy. It's interesting to see where everybody stood 10 months ago.

Futureite wrote:Man, I remember being called a troll, hater or someone that "lies" and was trying to weave together a story from random bits of gossip when I posted that Harvin had a well documented history of physical altercations with players and coaches dating back to highschool. And at the time I posted that I didn't even hypothesize that it'd end up like this in Seattle.
I made it all up. A complete "troll" that gets off on lying to get your skin.
Geezus Christmas you are better off without this guy anyway. Your O production will prob actually increase now. But bear in mind, I only offer that positive sentiment because the Hawks are no longer a "threat" to my dominant soon to be 4-3 team. Everything's changed now and I am back to graciously applauding your team, with no foresight that the 49ers will ever be anythng less than Duv champs for the next 100 yrs straight.

I have no idea what's true except that it ain't what we'll be told in an official press conference. It'll be fun to see what happens in the coming weeks. What if Percy plays? What if he's the Super Bowl MVP? Ha! Oh my...
On a side note, Percy is the name of one of the engines in Thomas the Train... A children's book (series, actually). My nephew loved Thomas and and his friends...particularly Percy. When he was 3, however, he couldn't pronounce his Rs so he used to say (loudly) "I LOVE PUCY!"
