Have faith my people, for all is not lost

Postby The POPE » Mon Oct 20, 2014 1:56 pm

I see the Hawks have been sent to purgatory, but have faith for if they confess their sins now, show repentance, and believe they shall once again gain acceptance to the promised land.
Sending Percy to hell ( um--the jets) may be a start to redemption, but more must be done.

Are the Hawks paying for the sins of success
1. Richard too many commercials
2. Tate doing Mrs. Wilson (purely speculative???) banished to the at least temporarily successful Lions.
3. Percy is Rexy's new toy--already covered that.

Was Percy the Seahawks antichrist. We shall see.

What remains to be seen is if all the we are family sermons last have any truth or was it just all BS, for it is easy to be one big happy family when things go well. Now let's see how happy we are when faced with adversity.

As for those 12th men out there preparing the nooses to hang the team, yourself or both please put your ropes down, support your team and last but not least "Go Hawks"

That is all for now.

PS-- I am not a troll nor religious fanatic. Just a long time Seahawks fan and new poster having a little fun.

It's all good. I don't believe in throwing in the towel til the numbers say you have to. But the Seahawks have plenty of cheerleaders. I can be critical and still say GO HAWKS.
Welcome to the board.

well thank you all for your hospitality.
I will try to keep the pontificating to a minimum, but sometimes a power greater than me moves me to spread the Seahawk gospel :P

I like your style, Pope! Reading your posts made me smile. You are a lot like my good friend Bird Droppings with your dry sense of humor.

As far as the OP goes, I'm not throwing in the towel on the season, not even close. I don't feel nearly as good about our chances of repeating now as I did after that first game vs. the Packers, but I understand how quickly things can change and that we still have one heck of a lot of talent on this team.

I think one difference between this yr and last is that Hawks read their own press clippings and listened to fans a bit too muc in the offseason. True, at times they were "dominant". But they also played a ton of close, gut check games v both good and bad teams which they somehow were able to scrape out. Those were the games that made them champions. They had a fire and drive that pulled them through in those games. And despite the popular perception, the difference between winning and losing any one of those games was literally the difference between taking home the Lombardi and a post season exit.

It is hard to keep that fire after you have reached a certain level of success in any endeavor. It just is. And you often forget how hard it was TO become successful, how many little things you had to focus on, and all the breaks you got along the way. This is true for an average person like me or a professional sports team like the Hawks. Hawks are learning this now.

I still think Hawks will be 6-3 in a couple weeks, and all is fine. But, with road games at Philly, KC, SF and AZ their work is cut out for them. 11-5 was my prediction for the NFC west winner beginning of yr. 10-6 may be more realistic.

Well my son if what you say is true then shame on those Hawks for playing with such arrogance, but it is not to late to atone for those mistakes. For if they follow Saint Russell to the promised land all will be forgiven. Where as the whiners will continue to follow that scamp of a QB who continues to sh**t himself when the big game is on the line with Satan himself bitching about every ref call and screaming in his ear.

ain't it funny how it works, God plays with you, but only lets a select few enter the promised land. Since I am anticipating the usual (look at all those ninner rings response) yes Montana and Walsh must have achieved sainthood. I always respected the hell out of those guys.

Nope. Reading press clippings does not diminish one's ability. Ignoring what made you successful to begin with does. What I see on D is that we get no pressure on the QB. Losing Macdonald, Clem, and Big Red was a much bigger a thing than I gave credit. Without having the fresh bodies to continually rush just 4 guys and allow our LB's and secondary to cover all potential targets, our D isn't as smotheringly dominant as last year. This year we need to blitz with 5 or 6 guys on 2nd and 3rd downs in order to get that same pressure, which isn't always effective against elite QB's as they can identify blitzes more readily and check down. Why we didn't do that to the Rams is beyond me, since whatsisface is NOT an elite QB.

Why Pete and company abandoned a formula that they concocted to begin with is a little strange to me.

They don't seem to me to have the same enthusiasm as last year. Maybe it's the Super Bowl effort that's sticking in my mind, but I don't see the same sense of urgency like last year.
Reading their own press clippings might be one factor and Baldwin (I think it was him) said something to the effect that they can't just show up and expect to win.

Give us this day, depth in our D-line, and forgive us for thinking Percy could flourish in Seattle, as we forgive PC/JS for trying to make the team better.

It does have a different feel to it than the past two years.

This is exactly what PC was talking about after the SB; how to play at your best game after game, year after year. He honed it at USC, so he knows exactly what the issues are. I think it's injuries more than any bad mojo. If the Seahawks get healthy again, particularly Zach Miller, Unger, and Jeremy Lane, and to a lesser extent Coleman & Wagner (we have good depth in LB corps) they will finish STRONG.
