Home field advantage is an important goal but it's not as critical as you seem to think it may be:

We won from the #1 seed in the playoffs but that's not always the case. Did you know that 20 #1 seeds have lost the Super Bowl, 14 #1 seeds have lost the conference championship game and 20 #1 seeds have lost their first playoff game?

Furthermore, five of the last ten Super Bowl Champions; the 2005 Steelers, 2006 Colts, 2007 Giants, 2010 Packers and 2011 Giants won it all without the "advantage" of a home playoff game.

In a season of phony media created drama, this one is possibly the most far fetched. Didn't Sherman say "Russell Wilson continues to amaze me" just a couple weeks ago after the Redskin W? People generally do not heap effusive praise on those they dislike, even if the only purpose is to maintain a unified work environment. I just do not believe it - at all.

The Holmgren teams needed HFA. These current teams are a little better at being road warriors. Holmgren used to just get murdered on the road, we were seldom even in road games of any importance. Pete's teams, even if they don't win, are almost always within one score of winning, even on the road. They are a lot more competitive.

HFA makes it easier, especially our HFA. But it is not a must.

I disagree.
We often don't wake up until about noon - which is about the 2nd half.
We're not built to continually come back, rather to get the lead and hold the other team from catching up.

I misread RD's statement and thought he was saying we are a lot better on the road instead of a little better.

The point I was making is that we are a lot more competitive on the road now under Pete than we were under Holmgren. We used to get killed on the road.

I agree River, but we are not a good road team, we are just better. We HAVE to have the HFA to repeat this year. NO way we go to Dallas and win.

I might be inclined to almost agree if we stay as banged up as we are/were.

If we're healthy by the time we're theoretically heading there (yeah, always a big "if"), I think we'd have a very good chance of beating them. Remember how many people we were missing and it *still* took them converting a 3rd-and-20 late in the game (to a receiver I'm almost positive he wasn't throwing to) to pull it out.

Dallas is for real, but with both teams at or near 100%, I still think we're better.

Wow, really? That is it, huh. If we have to play Dallas in the playoffs then you are actually claiming that there is a zero percent chance that we win. Not even if the Boys play terrible and have like 5 turnovers and we play our best game of the year. Come on! I know Dallas is good and right now they are playing better than us without a doubt, but 'No Way' we beat them is a crazy stretch. #1 Dallas has zero HFA at there stadium so they will not benefit from it. #2 We can beat anybody anywhere. With a worse team against a good Atlanta team we almost won 2 years ago in the Playoffs. #3 We are always in the game. We have lost by more than 1 score once in RW tenure and that was because we failed to convert on 4th down in our territory so they were able to kick a field goal. We will be in the game come the 4th quarter which means we would at least have a chance. Which brings me right to my last, most definitive point. #4 Russel Fing Wilson! Nuf said. This is way to far to look into the future, we are nowhere near playing at Dallas in the playoffs anything can happen between now and then but IF it were to happen we certainly would have a chance.

Far, FAR to much time between now and then to come to that conclusion. For all anyone knows Seattle will win out, and Dallas won't make the playoffs, and I might point out, even IF Dallas garners the # one seed, there is simply NO way to confirm at this point whether Seattle will or will not be going there, or if they did, that they would automatically lose for some reason. Silly, to even suggest otherwise at this point. Will Murray be healthy ? Guy tends to get injured. Can Dallas WIN a game in the playoffs? They tend not to you know. Will Romo remain healthy and productive? Not a certainty by any stretch of the imagination. There is a LOT of questions that remain to be answered for every team in the NFL, Dallas and Seattle amongst them.

Seattle CAN win in Dallas, I guarantee it, Dallas CAN win a playoff game, I guarantee it, to many variables between now and then to make ANY type of concrete iron clad statement, week to week, much less three months in the future. SMDH.

Bull.
The Cowboys home field advantage is completely non existent! They may as well be playing on the road as at home, they get nothing from the "home crowd".

The monstrosity affectionately known as Jerry's World, is nothing more than a monument to his enormous ego. My brother the Cowboys fan went to a game (against San Fran) and came back so angry at Jerrah I thought he was going to pop.
The Cowboys are front runners, and still haven't proved that they have a defense.
Maybe I'll buy into them when DeMarco Murray is still running at the pace he's been on five-six games from now, and they're still playing decent defense and winning.Of course, neither of those two things is likely to happen, and one of those, DeMarco keeping up this pace, is virtually impossible to keep up.
They have gotten themselves off to a good start, and they have enough fire power on offense to keep it up for a while, but sooner or later DeMarco will either get worn out or hurt, (or more likely given his history, both), and between Romo and Murray, the turnovers will soon start coming in bunches. Murray cannot hold onto the ball to save his life, they've been SOOOOO lucky that hasn't hurt them more than it has this year. Eventually Romo will start throwing picks...it's just a matter of time.
Once the team faces real adversity, they'll start the finger pointing, the media will go back to blaming Romo, (fair or not) and the Cowboys will come back to earth.
Don't get me wrong here, they're a playoff team, in fact they remind me a bit of the 05 Seahawks, with that STUPIDLY good O-line, a terrific run game, and a good enough defense. Their o-line alone is good enough to give them a shot at going far this year, BUT, I'm far from ready to "crown their asses".

LOL! And so it begins.
Dallas = overrated

My favorite part?
Calling my brother before the game and telling him that this is the ULTIMATE trap game, and the Cowboys would lose because of it.
MAN I'M GOOD!!!

What was I saying about Romo staying healthy and productive again??? I never hope for anyone to get hurt, but he did indeed, he came back in, but simply wasn't close to the same IMHO. The "all powerful" Boys just got beat at home, by the Skins folks. Like I said, FAR to early to crown the guys, or anyone for that matter.
