If the playoffs started today.....

Postby Long Time Fan » Mon Nov 03, 2014 9:55 am

the Seahawks would hold the second NFC wildcard berth by virtue of the head to head tiebreaker with GB.

The regular season is less about posting the best record and more about making the playoffs healthy and on a roll. This season not too much unlike last season, the seahawks have the opportunity to make that happen.

Fret all you want over the record, margin of victory, penalties, injuries, schedule; this team is well positioned to make a run. At some point they will play up to their ability and become that team that no one wants to face come playoff time. Enjoy the journey.

We have a stretch coming up that will pretty much settle the issue. We also still play the Cardinals two times and we should be a lot healthier than we have been in a while when we play them at home in a few weeks. We still control our own destiny and the NFC #1 seed is still out there for grabs.

Just gotta take it one game at a time, starting with the Giants.

I don't care how bad they look tonight (vs Colts), we Absolutely Cannot take this team lightly. We had a chance to beat Oakland by 20, and it became much closer than anybody thought.

The Giants are beat up right now, but are more than capable of coming to Seattle and making it close. Eli and Co. aren't playoff claibre this season, but it doesn't matter. The Seahawks have to go out and Kill these guys from the start. Don't let a lesser opponent stick around late in the game.

Seattle is playing hard, but we still need to get our mojo cranked up notch or three. Keep the pedal to the metal, stay aggressive, Don't let up.

6-3 is very possible.

Beat NY, then on the road to KC, before coming back home for a Huge matchup vs AZ.

Should be interesting.

But first things first.

Go Seahawks!!!

Of course! The point of the thread is that given all the misfortune of the first half of this season, the Seahawks are very much in control of their own destiny and here come the re-enforcements starting to return this week.

Hard as it may be to fathom, but our defending champions might just fly under the radar and find themselves in a position to re-peat. But of course, one game at a time.

We have them right where we want them! The talking heads have pretty much written our epitaph (my favorite word this week) and have already dismissed us as having any chance of even making the play offs. They (the pundits) have had to back off crowning the Cowboys now that Romo is out, again, but they have had no problem crowning the Broncos and have pretty much declared the Cardinals have won the NFC West w/o even playing the Seahawks at all.

Like I said, we have right where we want 'em!

GO SEAHAWKS!!!

The margin for error is considerably smaller this year.

We're gonna have to fight much harder than a year ago to get in (the playoffs).

I've been waiting for the Cards to fold on a game here and there, but they've managed to hold onto their Ace in the sleeve.

Maybe the Rams can get a 3rd division win, but I wouldn't put even house money on that.

If New Orleans can beat SF, watch out, because the wheels falling off there would be a welcomed train wreck for us to watch.

Philly now has butt fumble guy running the offense for the rest of the year, and maybe the Bears can stop crapping themselves and get a win at Lambeau. Then again, maybe not:)

Should be a great 2nd half.

There really is no single powerhouse team that's steamrolling the league this year. AZ is tough, along with a few others, but nobody is really matching what we (and a couple other teams) did in 2013.

Agreed.
We are in control of our destiny. And must hope that we can right the ship quickly.

Its been weeks and numerous personnel rotations since we have seen who this team is and who they have a chance to be. The first game of the season, against green bay, at least on the defensive side of the ball, is our best indication of who this team is when healthy. The defensive is still very good and more players have more experience.

Offensively, the last few games post PH, have seen a return to the run first, ball control offense. Our young receivers are developing, but the absence of players on the o-line and Miller in particular are so glaring that it may take until the end of the season before the offense hits on all cylinders. There is plenty of time and many reasons to be hopeful.

Division titles aside, there will be no runaways among the wildcard contenders. The NFC West title should still be the bogie, but a wildcard berth is very doable; if they play to their potential. No failing to date will cost a playoff berth; should the seahawks miss the playoffs, they would have to have a very disappointing second half.

Currently at 6 and 3, the Seahawks playoff position remains unchanged from last week. For the most part all of our playoff competition matched the Seahawks by winning this week. With the second wildcard card position currently, we are battling SF, Philly, and GB for one of the two wildcard spots. The only certainty at this point is that a wildcard team will not come out of the NFC South.

The division title remains in sight, but we can afford few (mb only one) more losse(s).

All the experts say we have to have home field throughout to make it back to the superbowl.

Name the teams in the NFC Seattle can't win on the road against. You were claiming Dallas just two short weeks ago, I would ask, why not EVERYONE else beats them at home, Philly? The team who lost to NO on the road last season in the playoffs? Arizona? Maybe, but if I was a Cardinals fan I would be sweating the whole no QB moving forward thing right about now. GB? Ateam they beat by 24 just this season and has been bounced at home three times in the last five years? NO or Atlanta or Carolina? Please..... Maybe, Maybe Detroit, Maybe..... beyond that this is a bunch of crap, the Seahawks CAN win in the playoffs on the road, anyone saying they "must" garner HF advantage isn't paying attention.

An "ex" is a has been and the NFL Network and ESPN has plenty of those who are talking heads and a "spurt" is a drip under pressure. That is why I take with a grain of salt what a so called expert has to say about our chances. Experts thought the Patriots would defeat the Giants twice in the Super Bowl and experts always say the Cowboys are on the verge of greatness.
