Next Up: The New York Giants

Postby Zorn76 » Fri Nov 07, 2014 1:06 am

I though maybe would could set aside the great Luck/RW debate and talk a bit about our next upcoming game vs the Gmen:)

Eli and Co. are currently on a 3 game losing streak, and are 1-3 road, with their 5 losses overall involving double digit losing margins. Prince Amukamara - one of their solid CB's - was just lost for the season last week against the Colts. They are middle of the road offensively (17th pass/16th rushing), while being near the bottom defensively (28th vs pass/22nd vs run).

Eli himself is having a pretty good season (16TD's vs 5INT's) and just shy of 2,000 yds passing for the year.

I suspect our gameplan will be the usual - run Beast to set up the pass, then exploit what already was a challenged secondary before the injury to Prince A.

Regardless, I'd like to see us keep the petal to the metal throughout out the game. We'll need good pressure on Eli, because when he has time he's been effective. Their running game doesn't feature anybody spectacular, so we should be OK their.

We'll see if our OL and DL are up to the task. As always, those remain the chief team concerns heading into any game. We also have to get back to top notch ST play. Turnovers with that unit have played a big part in a couple of our losses and reared their ugly head again last week vs the Raiders.

Bottom line: I think Seattle comes away with a 31-20 win. We need this game worse than the Giants, because we're at The Clink and still are fighting for a playoff birth. NY hasn't been consistent enough on either side of the ball to dictate the pace or tempo on their opponent.

We can't take Anybody lightly, regardless.

No letdown.

Go Seahawks!!!

All I know is, if you happen to have Baldwin on your fantasy team, this week is the week to start him.
It may be the week to give Paul Richardson a shot as well, if you are in a really deep league.
The Giants secondary was already really bad, and now is worse with the injury to Prince.
That coupled with the fact that Russell Wilson has been getting crap about his performance lately, and I am looking for a BIG game offensively from Wilson and at least one of our receivers, most likely Baldwin.

Not taking them lightly, (it doesn't actually matter how I take them, so long as the team doesn't take them lightly, which I don't think they will) just saying this game should be a pretty satisfyingly easy victory. One that will put at least a temporary halt to all the endless whining about Russell Wilson.
Not that it will last of course, there seem to be a ton of Seahawks fans who are NEVER happy, ever, and who just love to neurotically tear apart the best franchise QB, check that, the ONLY franchise QB the Seahawks have ever had.
I think it's a mental disorder personally...but I digress.

My only concern stems from the quick checkdown offense NYG currently run, it is something that has hurt Seattle consistently this season, and is a matchup I will be watching extremely closely. It is what SD and Dallas used to avoid pressure, and continually move the ball. The Seahawks are going to need to tighten their coverage and play physical at the line with these receivers and backs, allowing them all the underneath stuff, while that is what they want isn't a smart plan, and I hope to see Sherman, Simon and co jamming receivers at the line the whole game.

"Baldwin on your fantasy team, this week is the week to start him"

I dunno about that - Marshawn and Doug are listed as questionable (I think - maybe it was probable for the former??) for the game. With our offensive woes, playing ANY game without our three biggest weapons (aside from RW) is a sketchy proposition.

I worry about every game and never take a win for granted; as was mentioned above - how I see the game is of ZERO consequence. If we don't have Doug and Marshawn, it will be time for Paul, Kevin, Turbo and Michael to give it a REAL go. With Zack still out and our O-line a question mark....I'm glad we are playing the struggling Gmen.

New Player Note Fri, Nov 7

Doug Baldwin (probable, groin) is "ready to roll" for Week 10, according to coach Pete Carroll.

Advice: After sitting out Wednesday's practice, Baldwin returned for Thursday and Friday's sessions. He's a solid WR3 play, particularly in PPR leagues, against a Giants defense that continues to experience depletion in the secondary.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Friday that Marshawn Lynch (probable, calf) is "ready to roll" for Week 10 against the Giants.

Advice: Lynch put a scare into his fantasy owners by sitting out Thursday's practice, but it was ostensibly only for rest purposes. Fire up Lynch as a top-shelf RB1 against a collapsing Giants defense, which has been riddled with injuries. Lynch is also getting back LT Russell Okung and C Max Unger this week.

One of the all time stupid moves by the Hawks to let him walk and keep a cancer.

And just because I love it so much here is the hit Cam put on Davis.....Absolutely Vicious! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIUMlwP3bDk
