Just figured the Wilson thing out!!

Wilson is a 5 tool QB.

5 tools
Leadership
Throwing from the pocket
Throwing on the run
Scrambling
running

Now if you look at the big 4 and we will add Luck in their, the only other one that might be is Rodgers. Now that is not to say you need to be a 5 tool QB to be Elite, but if you do not have the 5 tools then you need help. Example

Manning
Leadership-check
throwing form pocket-check
Throwing on the run- no
scrambling- no
running- heck no

But because he has a great oline and Wr he does not need all 5 tools, same goes for Brady, and Brees. Rodgers 4 tools for sure, not sure on scrambling anymore.

Now luck
Leadership- check
pocket- check
on the run- check
scrambling-yeah no
running- check

But again having a very good oline and great Wr he does not need all 5 tools

Wilson maybe the only current QB with all 5 tools. Kam might be closest but I question the scrambling as he tends to throw or run. Kap cannot throw from the pocket let alone anyplace else.

So we have a 5 tool Qb and because of that he can do more with less, as all the big for have more around them on offense and they need it because they are not 5 tool QBs

According to yor criteria Luck would be a 5 tool QB as well. He's a very good scrambler.

Going on his evaluation, wouldn't "scrambling" only make Luck a 4-tool QB?

I agree that Luck is a good scrambler, though. Guy's a stud.

[edit]

I'm also not sure what the difference(s) is between "throwing on the run", "scrambling", and "running". Shouldn't there only be two categories there?

Throwing on the run means designed rollouts. Scrambling means buying time outside of the pocket for your WR to get open, running is just plain running.

Luck is not as good as scrambling as some might think, having watched a lot of his games scrambling for him mostly means moving within the tackles which is not scrambling, that is part of doing what you do in the pocket. That is not to say he has not scrambled, but he tends to not do it a lot and when he does the ball does not get to were it needs to very well. Lucks complt% on scrambles is 38.1% Wilson is way over 50. Just to give more weight here at 381. he was in the bottom half of the league he would be 20th. Also last year he only did it 21 times compared to 57 by Wilson.

He is only a 38.1 complt on scrambles, Wilson is over 50% so no he is not very good. He is okay which does not make him a 5 tool QB. OF course realize you do not need to be a 5 tool QB to be elite. It just means you need more talent around you. At 38.1 he would be in the bottom half of the league so not one of his tools

I see- success at 'designed rollouts' versus the ability to get out of trouble and make something good of it.

And re: Luck scrambling- I always thought he was pretty good- interesting to hear the numbers.

I think if you break it down further, Luck has an abysmal tendecy to turn the ball over on his scrambles as well. More often than not, it is because he becomes erratic when doing it, and either vastly under or over throws his receivers. I don't know the numbers, just something I've noticed when watching him ( he also fumbles the ball a ton on those types of plays). Not knocking Luck here, just offering an observation. Luck is a MUCH better QB when allowed to sit in the pocket, and allow one of his fast receivers to break free.
