Baldwin to Harbaugh; "Go Buckeyes"

Postby c_hawkbob » Thu Jan 01, 2015 10:09 am

Saw this on NFL AM and had to find a link:

"I wish him the best of luck," Baldwin said. "He's anxious to get that program turned around and do some great things at Michigan. I wish him the best."

Then Baldwin had one more little comment: "And go Buckeyes."

LOL, man, Baldwin and Sherman both have been riding their sour relationship with Harbaugh when he was at Stanford, and rightfully so it seems.

Classic irony that Sherman in particular had a lot to do with us going to the SB last year by his stellar tip to Smith to securel the CCG.

It's a little telling when both Sherman and Baldwin don't care very much for their former college coach. I can see one of them having some sour grapes, but two makes it a trend. That coupled with some documented dislike for the HC in the Niners locker room and pretty soon a picture starts to take shape.

It was fitting that Sherman got to dig into that turkey drumstick while sitting on the SF logo. More so than our second meeting, that game was the dagger in the heart for the Niners hopes.

Yes, that game was the dagger in the heart, the second game was the final nail in the coffin.

It's a trend of nothing more than the continued irrational belief in Seattle that he's a "douche" who everyone hates. There are like a million examples of current or former players that love him, and that's the common consensus. Players LOVE playing for him.

You'd expect someone like Sherman or Baldwin to have a chip on their shoulder. On.Sunday Night football Sherman said he wanted to get all the people that passed up on him "fired", so I'm pretty sure his issues extend beyond Jim Harbaugh to any scout or coach that did not have him on their board. And Doug Baldwin's comment is no different than Taylor Mays' comments towards Carroll after he passed up on him in lieu of Earl Thomas.

Of course these guys get mad. In their eyes, they helped make their coach in college and the coach turned around and looked the other way in the NFL. Normal human emotion, especially for a professional in any line of work. Pretty sure this happens ALL the time. It's no referendum on Jim Harbaugh. It's closer to a referendum on your neck of the woods for your collective views on Jim Harbaugh and our area in general.

Sherman or Baldwin, yes, although it's pretty rare to hear a former player go public about their dislike for their former college coach, it's not too surprising that one of them would have a chip on their shoulder.

But not both Sherman AND Baldwin. Adding another former player to an already unlikely equation makes it even less of a coincidence. And that's not even considering the obvious differences he had with the Niner front office and the reported dissent in his locker room.

It isn't hate. It's reality. Harbaugh has a personality that is abrasive at best.

River;

Disagree. The overwhelming majority of players were effusive in their praise and support of JH all yr. Several of them handed him the football after making INTs. He got a gatoraide bath week 16. There may have been a couple players who disliked him, but that happens on EVERY team. And it's easy to spot them because are guys who either weren't playing (LaMichael James) or weren't playing and had a history of conflict (Ahmad Brooks). This is like me saying players don't like Carroll because Houshmandzadeh mouthed off to him and was cut, Harvin didn't like him and was cut, Lynch had a public issue with him, Taylor Mays hates him. I can create the same pattern, but we all know these things happen everywhere

Also, 49er FO has had many internal issues that extend beyond our coaches. In fact, we went through the exact same drama in 2010, so something is going on here and it has nothing to do with JH. I would agree that JH is probably abrassive or hard to deal with, an energetic type A. But "douche" or "disliked by players"? No. Players by and large love playing for him. And we loved having him as our coach. He is all about winning. Nothing else.

The majority of any supervisory-subordinate relationship is going to be positive. There are a lot of people that are very forgiving and submissive to their superiors, at least when it comes to publicly criticizing them. It's human nature. It's when that relationship drops into the 70% approval that it becomes a concern. The fact that he got a Gatorade bath is completely irrelevant. At that point, there's no sense in any of his players burning bridges. It's no different than a friendly divorce. Hell, I've shook hands with a manager of mine that was fired of whom I very much disliked yet I still sincerely wished him well.

I don't look at it as good guys vs bad guy. It just amuses me. I'd find it amusing if neither the Seahawks or the Niners were involved. What I also find amusing is the fact that you keep living in denial about Harbaugh. Obviously some people like Harbaugh. He is married after all. But it's well known since back to his playing days that he rubs a LOT of people the wrong way.

For god's sake your owner just fired a guy who had the best record for the first four seasons in NFL history who went to a super bowl and three championship games over personality issues. Deal with reality already. The dude was shagging fly balls at the Giants stadium because you can keep them and was running around diving for them. When a Giants Official said he didn't have to do that, they'd give him son balls his reply was, "I don't want them unless I earn them". Dude is weird.

As for whether the smack talk coming back to haunt us. If it does it does. But at least we don't run around talking all kinds of outlandish s*** about the 49ers then when they embarrass the Seahawks pretend to be Classy in defeat and then do a 180 less than 12 hours later and contradict everything we said to be classy in defeat.

You can't educate anyone about how a fan should act. Kick rocks.

Niner fans progression during the Harbaugh era:
Year one. "We're back to where we DESERVE TO BE, among the NFL's elite! Next year we'll get in the Super Bowl!"
Year 2. Woohoo, we're the best team in the NFL even if we just barely lost the Super Bowl! This year we'll actually win!
Year 3. We just added a wide receiver and have a better offense, SUCK IT SEAHAWKS LOSERS! YOU JUST GOT LUCKY LAST YEAR!"
Year 4. "Oh crap...Well, WE'RE CLASSIER THAN THE SEAHAWKS!!!"

Three years of nothing but smack talk, and reveling in all the smack talk from the Niners players, then the Seahawks come along with even MORE swag, and actually backing up their talk instead of choking, and the talk becomes about "class".
LOL!
Class...you Niners fans are pathetic!
