Is Russell the Anti-Sherman?

He covers meeting Peyton, why he is in Seattle (God put him here), talks about Richard and of course, his side trip to the SB after we lost to Atlanta... just to get a 'feel' for being there.

Great insight into his mind. Takes his time, speaks his mind.

This is really the first of at least 3 years open SB windows and it's going to take a lot to re-sign Richard, probably the largest contract in the history of DB's in the NFL if not all Defensive players. One more + Two years as our 'franchise' if nothing else?

Let's just hope Russell's vision of his image in the lap of god turns into a 'discount' for resigning him, too.

Frank Sinatra? I'm surprised anyone under the age of 40 would even know who Frank Sinatra is, let alone have a good time listening to him.

To answer the question posed in the thread title, yes, Russell is the anti Sherman. A completely different personality in a lot of ways although they both share a lot of traits.

While they may have different mannerisms I think the two have more traits in common, especially when you look beyond outward appearances and how they each present themselves to society, than they have traits that separate them.

From a football perspective (how they study, focus, and compete) they are very similar but from a media viewpoint they are quite different.
I get the impression that Russell perceives talking to the media as part of the job and although he may not love it, he accepts it while I think Richard likes being on stage.

I'd say, cut from the same cloth, or two sides of the same coin are more apt descriptions really.
They are two ultra competitive, ultra focused athletes who believe in themselves and in their destinies of greatness. They both believe that what they do off the field for the community counts as much or more than what they do on the field. They both have a serious competitive fire, it gets expressed differently, but the fire is just as hot.
They certainly have different temperaments in some regards, but to be honest, I think those two have FAR more in common than not.

Yeah it was great however, the thought that we will need to pay Sherman the Largest contract in the history of DBs but RW needs to give us a discount is really bad. First Sherman is a FA first, so what he does could set the table for ET who is next and then RW.

It will be more than interesting to see who gets resigns and who doesn't in the coming years. No doubt, JS and PC value certain positions and players over others. New England is probably the best example of managing cap and player turnover issues over the last 15 years. How well the Seahawks master the art of roster and contract management will go a long way in determining the length of the pane of the SB window of opportunity.

Cap space is different than personality differences.
Maybe all three will get negotiated ET Sherm and RW.
This team seems to be breaking all the molds and I love it.

Thanks for responding. Maybe I was more thinking of the "anti-Sherman" based on the interviews, not in the reality that we know as Seattle fans.

I've seen Richard's interviews at his home/office, where he spends countless hours watching film talking up the opponents (like he's doing with Denver's receivers) and know he's not necessarily what he's portrayed as, but what the national media views him, and yes it does matter, from the interview a few months ago on "First Take" to the weekends, this is the impression he leaves.
