Yeah, for all the press Sherm gets Earl really is, more than anyone else, the guy that makes our defense work.

Sherman has said so himself on several occasions.

Nice article.

I agree and have been saying that since we drafted him.
Earl Thomas is the most talented, best player on the entire team, including Richard Sherman and Percy Harvin, who are both amazing in their own rights.
Luke Kuechly won the Defensive MVP this year, (that's fine) but the only reason he did is because people are too brain dead to sit down and figure out what having an elite safety like Thomas actually means to a team, regardless of his numbers (which were incredible with 5 picks and a buttload of tackles), and because SHerman is so stinking good he split some of the votes that would have gone Earl's way.

It's fun having such a great defense, with so many great players that 2 of them could legitimately be D-MVP's.

Any kind of doubt that Thomas can create for Manning, even for just a moment, will pay dividends over the course of the game.

Great point Z76, you gotta think that Manning will hesitate throwing to two areas of the field, deep right, and deep middle.
This alone gives us a little advantage in this area. I suspect Maxwell and Lane will have the ball thrown their way often during the game.
