Mini Super Tuesday

There's only have about a quarter of the delegates at stake today that they did two weeks ago, but it's an important date as it could make or break the two left in the race. Today will be the first one-on-one matchup between Sanders and Biden.

Primaries are being held in 6 states, including MO, ND, MS, ID, WA, and MI. Michigan in particular will be interesting as it will be a testing ground in a state that's likely to be a key battleground this November. Sanders won the state in 2016, so it's hard to imagine him catching Biden unless he wins there.

If you're a poll watcher, Biden is way ahead, with a 16 point lead nation wide, including whopping 22 points in MI, the largest state on today's slate, and 30 points in MO. Even WA, which was thought to be a Sanders stronghold, is a virtual toss-up. Mississippi is likely to break Biden's way as well.

Biden has been picking up a steady stream of endorsements, the latest being former POTUS candidate Sen. Cory Booker. If Biden wins the day today, the race could be all but over.

Be nice to see it over whether Biden or Sanders. I want to get to the real battle. Trump vs. whoever the Democrats throw out with VP candidate picked. That's when it gets interesting.

If Sanders doesn't win Michigan, he's pretty much finished. There's primaries in OH, IL, and WI yet to come and it's hard to visualize him doing well in those states if he can't win in Michigan, a state he won in the 2016 primaries.

I'd like to see the nomination determined early, too. Biden was nearly broke before Super Tuesday so he can use the time to get organized. Additionally, it gives him fewer chances to screw up and say something really stupid. As unpopular as Trump is, this election is the Democrats to lose.

I saw today where Donald Trump Jr. wants to debate Hunter Biden. This is going to be a dirty, nasty campaign.

Joe Biden has won at least 4 of the 6 states in yesterday's primaries, including the biggest delegate prize and bell weather state, Michigan. He's reportedly received huge support from blacks in all states, which rules out the theory that his support with blacks was primarily limited to the south as yesterday's win included massive support from blacks from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico in MI, MO, and MS.

Michigan is absolutely critical in the general election as Trump won by less than 10,000 votes. One of Clinton's problems in 2016 was the relatively tepid support she received with blacks, so yesterday's results is very good news if you're not a Trump fan. The challenge for Biden will be maintaining that enthusiasm until November and getting those folks to the polls.

So...it's looking more and more like Biden can wrap up the nomination before the convention, perhaps as early as May. There's still some key states left to hold primaries, like FL, GA, IL, WI, and OH, but it's clear that in the first true head-to-head matchup that the majority of the country prefers Biden over Sanders.

If I'm Biden's campaign manager, I'm telling him not to go off his prepared script so as not to stick his foot in his mouth and remind voters of his age.
