Sounds like he is now taking the weekend to think about things.

Free agent Jared Allen left his second Seahawks visit without a contract, but expects to decide on his future this weekend.

Allen is believed to be on the verge of a deal with Seattle, but leaving town to mull over his options could result in a few extra bucks thrown his way. The Seahawks are still the heavy favorites for his services. Mar 20 - 5:30 PM

Or not..... Like I said, Allen on this team equates to "situational pass rusher", seems like that not the money is the hang up.

Am I the only one that is sick of Schneider's obsession with the Vikings? Seriously.

I bet this would turn out better than the others but im almost at the point where I hope Allen is as big a bust as the other losers from Minny just so Paul Allen has to redo Schneider's contract with a stipulation that he forfeits his salary if he ever signs another viking.

We have a MFing offensive line to fix and instead he's focusing on the defense AND its a MFing viking.

The acquisition of Allen will throw absolute FEAR into offensive coordinators ... and ain't gonna create too much security in certain QB foes.

So, here's Bennett, Allen, Averill and Irvin lined up on 2nd or 3rd down.

Oh, you wanna run a hurry-up? Go ahead.

Allen is an asset even when he isn't in the game.

Oh, yeah, I think their might be a couple of other linebackers and Dbacks thrown into the mix that might disconcert them.

It worked for the Ravens for years.

Don't sweat it. The OLine will be addressed.

I suspect hard dollar figures were in place and last minute change of mind came from incentives or medical incidentals, but I wasn't in the room.

I hope you're right, my friend. But it looks like we'll have to wait until the draft to see just how committed PC and Company are to at least maintaining our already miserable line play. Any ideas as to who we might be targeting?

Forgive me if I'm wrong here, but I believe MORE not less free agents from other teams have been signed to the offense, not defense from other teams ( my count 2 to 0 the offense).

Even if they do draft o-line in the draft the odds on them helping this year is slim, takes time to learn the system we run with regards to blocking. Not to mention we still do not have that big WR we need. Offense got worse, not good.

And yet it's the defense, not the offense that won that SB. Interesting thought I know. The D-line, and the DB'S and the LB core had FAR more to do with that dismantling of Denver than any perceived thought on the matter. Seems to be working whatever the worry is over any Weak link in the offense.

Bowie, Bailey, Sweezy, and Carpenter will be BETTER not worse, why that is so difficult to grasp is beyond me. More experience, more familiarity, and more experience equates to BETTER play in 99.9% of players, unless father time drains their stamina and skill, last I checked, with those four, Father time is a NON-factor. Expect BETTER play, not worse from those PLUS anyone signed or drafted in the coming months.

IMHO the line IMPROVES, without adding anyone ( which certainly isn't the case). The line has been, and will be, upgraded through the moves made by the FO. Watch and see if it doesn't. Not opposed to eating some crow, if they get worse, will those bemoaning the situation be as willing? I wonder?......

and yet with out the offense we would not have won the SB or even gotten there, and as to improved you have no way to know that at all, so stop the speculating, and as of now they have done nothing to improve the o-line.

Hey, Anton ...

the entire second round of f/a's ... at much cheaper prices ... starts at a team near you next week.

Should the Hawks not pick up an olineman (another one, actually) I will send you a towel from one of last year's promotions, no charge, so you can cry in it.

And you don't even have to put up anything, as long as you promise to hang it up on your wall with the tears intact.

They are not done with free agency, Anthony.

Sorry man, if the offense score NOTHING the Seahawks STILL win the SB. Just the facts. ( Defense score 8, ST scored six, and I generously removed the extra points. Denver I believe scored 8, Seattle Defense scored 8 w/o any extra points. So NO speculation on the matter). Believe if you want that Wilson threw for 5,000 yards and outscored the opposition, he didn't, and in fact when they HAD to play a high scoring game, it ended up being a LOSS not a victory( Indy) try as you might Anthony, Wilson simply was NOT the ultimate difference in the season.

I love the guy too, but I am simply NOT going to pretend like the defense was a bunch of overpaid stiffs running around out ther. Have said what seems like a million times I WANT the offensive line improved, I just understand the PROCESS for doing so, a HELL of a LOT better than those whining about it. There is NO immediate fixes in the NFL, it takes WORK, diligence and PATIENCE. I at LEAST have the last, whether you do or don't, is IRRELEVANT because THIS FO DOES, how you or I feel about it, DOES NOT MATTER.

They BUILT a SB winner, I'm willing to let them, CONTINUE to do so.

Hope Allen realizes that his only chance at a SB ring is in Seattle, and that he signs on this weekend. Usually the networks are good about reporting a deal that's pretty much done, but in this case Jared flies back to AZ without a deal.

His call, but he'll be likely walking away from a ring at 32 if he retires.

C'mon, JA, snap out of it! You should be a Seahawk already.

He could be trying to play one team off the other or just grinding the Hawks.
I can't blame him for trying to get as much as he can, but the carrot of being on a Championship team might be the deciding factor.

I'm not really sure how I feel about this. On one hand, he is obviously a stud who would further incite terror into opposing QB's. I'd love to see him mow down Kaep 3-4 times a year. On the other, he's past his prime, & costs a lot of dough that could be used elsewhere. I'm thinking around 9-10 million per year. It's not like we have that kind of cap space.

Reggie White played 8 years with the Eagles and compiled 124 sacks in that time. Went to Green Bay at the age of 32 and added another 68.5 sacks and won his first and only Superbowl Trophy.

Comparing the two ... Allen has played 2 more NFL seasons, and is a year younger than White is at this time. He has 128.5 sacks at this moment. So I think it's premature to say he is past his prime. I think pass rushing DEs have a longer shelf life. It today's era we live in a passing league, and therefore it makes sense to see Allen compile more sacks than Reggie, because teams run the ball less. However Allen has always stayed relatively healthy, and has never shown signs of slowing down. Does he want 10 mil, of course, but it's clear Seattle can't and won't pay him that much because he would have already signed by now.

This is a game of poker right now, and he is holding a weaker hand because he knows we don't need him as much as he needs us for a Superbowl Ring. In the meantime he is trying to get as much as cash as he can. Most sports writers are calling his bluff to walk away from football. He can even press his bet and push into into the early part of the season and see another Von Miller or Robert Mathis type player go down with a long time out with injury. This will certainly put a team in desperation mode and sign him. However he knows his window of a Superbowl really only lies with us, and that is why he keeps toying with the idea.

IMO, Jared Allen is worth it.

Guy has a motor that doesn't quit, and he'd be Awesome on our defense, even if he wasn't an every down DE.

Very surprised he walked away. Hope it's just a bluff.

Regardless, the Seahawks can win another SB without him. Having Percy healthy for a whole season goes a long way there in itself.

Well, the weekend is here. If Allen is good to his word, we should find out today. The Cowboys are the only other team I've heard that he's had serious discussions with, and they are wanting him to bring his price down. You have to think that it would be Seahawks or nothing, and I can't imagine him turning his back on not only millions, but a shot at a ring as well. He's not all that old.

My guess is that we'll see him holding up a Seahawks #69 sometime today.

I hope so.

I actually get a worse feeling the longer this drags out. He's known to be different breed, so it wouldn't surprise me if he just walked away for the NFL, as crazy as he would be to do so right now:)

The week end has come and gone and no word about Jared Allen. I had thought that the Cowpokes were out of the running because they had maxed out their salary cap so the only other option for J.A. would be to either sign with the Seahawks, sign with the Patriots (UHG!) or retire.

I thought of J.A. as the perfect replacement for Chris Clemons because it would have been an upgrade so I am distressed that John Schneider wasn't able to get Allen to sign on the dotted line. Jared, there is an old saying you might recall, s*** or get off the pot!

Did he file his retirement papers or something? Is he going to miss a minicamp if he doesn't sign tomorrow?

I'm starting to think people just want the Seahawks to sign someone, anyone just because they are in football withdrawal. Me? I'm just going to go home and watch the Superbowl again.

The roster will be set soon enough.

I'm beginning to be a little ambivalent about signing Allen. On paper, it would be a huge addition to an already great defense. But if he's so indecisive that it's taking him forever to make up his mind, then perhaps his heart isn't in it. I don't want him here unless like everyone else, he's 100% committed to bringing us another Lombardi.

I don't think it's that serious. He wouldn't have made two visits if he didn't want to play. But pride is a tough thing to swallow from time to time. Look at Brian Ulracher thinking he was worth more than he was.

But yeah if he signs he signs and that's great. If he doesn't his loss frankly.

I guess part of why I'm becoming ambivalent is that I don't like being jerked around by an All Pro, like Bret Favre did with the Vikings. If he really wants to play, then get your butt in here and sign. If not, then hit the road, Jack. Enough of the drama.

Exactly how I see it as well.
I understand why it's difficult for him to swallow his pride, which is exactly why I see him being such a perfect fit! He's got SO MUCH confidence in his abilities, even at his age, and rightfully so.
He believes, even at his age, that he's worth more than what teams have offered him.
According to reports I've read, he has made plenty of money to retire on, because he's invested well, and he has other things outside of football that he loves doing which would make retiring much easier for him.
Yet, at the same time, he loves the game of football (just watch him play ever, and you'll know that is true!) and there is no doubt he wants to know for sure that if he quits playing, he won't someday look back and wish he'd played longer, because the love of football is strong in him.
Also, there is zero doubt from everything he has said, that he REALLY wants to earn a ring.

All those factors need to be weighed against each other...he doesn't need football but he loves it, he wants a ring but feels that he's worth more than what he has been offered to try to get one, he could move on to other things he loves, but he wants to be sure he's really ready and won't regret it later etc...

If he hasn't signed by now I doubt he does. I'm not worried by it either way, like other posters have stated, his loss. That said, I wasn't to hot giving a guy at that age a place to graze in his old age. I personally hope the Hawks pull the plug on the deal.
