Kenny Britt, anyone?

I haven't heard what kind of money he's looking for, but I would imagine we wouldn't offer him more than the "laughable" offer Tate says he turned down. Word is that he wants a short term deal in order to increase his value, so maybe we could get him on the cheap.

At 6'3", he'd fit one of our needs for a big receiver and he's just 25 years old. Former #1 draft choice that has never fulfilled his potential. But he brings with him lots of baggage, arrested 9 times since the Titans drafted him in 2009. There seems to be a lot of teams interested in him, including Buffalo, New England, Carolina, St. Louis, and the Redskins.

I'm all for bringing him in and giving him a Lendale White/Mike Williams "opportunity" to come in and compete. He has too much baggage for anything much more than a minimum/incentive based deal.

Very true, BUT, when he's right, he's an awesome talent.

Personally I think that bringing him onto a team where he'd be forced to comPete just to get a spot on the roster, could only be good for both parties.
If Britt decided to really apply himself and work hard to get a spot, he would fit the role of big receiver, and would be an AWESOME addition to the team.

Personally I think it's a low risk high potential reward deal we really ought to go for.

Yea, me, too. We're not going to be able to go out and pick up a highly productive, pro bowl receiver to replace Tate with. Britt has as big of an upside as any receiver on the FA market and we're not in the position to give out any big, long term deals.

But I don't think we'll get him. There are a lot of teams taking fliers on him, which means the price might be higher than what we're willing to pay, and if he isn't interested in getting a ring as much as he is in building his value, he'd be much better off in a place like New England catching passes from Tom Brady rather than a defense orientated, run first team like the Hawks.

While there are other teams taking a look at Britt he has to weigh what would be the best situation to put in that "show me" season. That could very well be Seattle since we don't have a tall WR with the kind of experience he has. he could come in and do a Mike Williams (hopefully even better) and then garner himself a better contract, either here or some where else. But, it would have to be a low incentive based contract.

Doubtful. The best situation for a 1 year deal is a team that can showcase your talents. That's not the Seahawk offense, because we just don't throw the ball enough. The reason to come to the Seahawks would be to win, but that's the kind of motivation that doesn't really match up with Britt's personality profile.

That's exactly why I think he ends up with the Pats. Belichek does have a history of taking in troubled souls, and who better to show case a receiver's talents than Tom Brady?

Not that I wouldn't mind seeing him come here, just that we don't seem to fit what he's looking for.

Normally, I would vote straight up "no" on a guy like Britt.

But a one year deal for him to prove himself - I'd give him a shot - especially if there were a behavior clause thrown in for good measure. Either way, I vote yes on this one, though odds are he goes somewhere else.

I've been hoping we sign him to team friendly deal all offseason. He has all the physical tools but injury prone and off-field issues. If he doesn't pan out no big deal, if it all 'clicks' he would be exactly what this team needs. On a side note Hass called him the best receiver he has ever thrown the ball to a few years ago.

The Hawks interest in Britt should be just that "Detour".

He hasn't played well, maybe never properly recovered physically from a leg injury, but his mental health has never been in place.

Rams claim they have "over a 50% chance of signing him as of today.

I seriously doubt Seattle or Britt took this very far, that said I brought this up in the rumor thread awhile ago. Britt is young, and talented, and more importantly CHEAP. I'd be alright with an uber cheap signing of the dude, but with the derth of talent at the position, it seems even a player that has only had weeks of big time play, and a slew of off field problems will be priced out of our "unique fixer upper" range.

The guy does do a couple things well ( stretch the field vertically, and big red zone target) that the Seahawks current receiver group lacks, so I felt like the idea had Merit.

Who knows, maybe Bannister makes a veteran minimum return ( which would be damn weird IMHO)...

Britt is that big body they seem to want. Chris Harper in last years draft is pretty close to him physically so I can see why people associate him with us.
Just too much baggage, although he could help out at the WR position with Tate gone - a different role, but with some physical bonuses.
