For the persnickety, I put this thread in the Hawk forum—not the OT forum—because this thread is, after all, about the Seahawks.

Which current Hawk can you most easily envision as a great American future congressman/ senator/ president?

Why do you feel that way?

Qualify it, please.

Me, I like Richard Sherman as an elected official because unlike most politicians—their parties notwithstanding—he is 100% real.

Bet Washington would change him for the worse, though. That's sadly just the way the American republic works, we know.

Sad, but true. It's the nature of the beast.

I'd have to know more about our player's politics before I'd advocate any of them for elective office, and to be honest, I don't want to know what any of our player's political persuasion is. But if the question were phrased a little differently, such as who would I like as a leader or whom I'd be more likely to follow, the obvious answer is Russell Wilson. He's a lead by example type of guy, seems honest and trustworthy, very likable, modest, very even keeled.

The only qualification Rott put down was "current Hawk", so I'd assume PC would count. For that matter, all of us 12's would qualify, too. I certainly consider myself to be a "current Hawk."

I've said this over and over about Pete, but he's not the type of person I'd want to work for, at least not in my employment situation. Way too emotional, tells people what they want to hear (as most HC's do) vs being a straight shooter. On the other hand, I do like some of his other attributes, not afraid to get rid of under performers, knows his P's and Q's, articulate, and has a likeable personality.

Unfortunately in today's world, you would have to find someone who would be willing to sell out to the lobbyists.
It seems that's the real power behind the elected officials.

Although I like the question, I find I am having difficulty answering it. The questions in which state and for what position are pretty critical ones. Also, for which party? Candidates often have to portray themselves differently based on what part of the country they are running. I know people find the whole idea of not being totally honest abhorrent, but it is us the electorate, that have made it that way. It does not take a terrible amount of science to study what way a particular region will vote on any separate issue. The fun part comes by combining positions in to a platform that one thinks can win any particular election. Sometimes this is hard, sometimes it's as easy as having a pronounceable name and representing the right party.

Since I am from Washington State, and I can only take so much politics, I typically look at things only in the prism of state politics and where we fit in to the puzzle nationally. So to answer your question I would think of a position here in our state. Lets go with a congressional position in the 8th congressional district. That would mean whichever Seahawk were to run is likely living there already. Granted I am not from that zip code but I doubt people of either party would miss the incumbent, who does about as little in DC as an elected official can.

So if I was going to pick a successful candidate for the 8th district off the current Seahawk roster I would look for a white guy, that is most likely a Republican, or the least liberal Democrat you can find. A RINO would work very well here. I would look for a guy with ties to Washington State, or perhaps OR, CA, or HI. I would look for someone that has a reputation for being hard hitting, but not highly emotional. A known leader.

My candidate for the 8th district congressman, Max Unger.

You run for office anything about your past is fair game. If you got skeletons lurking in your closets they'll come out. It takes a squeaky clean history (or a very influential family capable of burying or obscuring any blemishes) to run for office.

The only guy I can imagine willing to put their history up to that kind of scrutiny would be our boy Russ. I could see him as president one day.

Interesting question and a lot of good points made. It can be a very complicated question or you can look at it more simply. As far as a good leader on the team, Russ is an obvious choice. But I think there may potentially be many other Hawks that would be great. Luke Wilson, Doug Baldwin, Heath Farwell, Tarvaris Jackson, Zach Miller, Bobby Wagner and of course, GM John Schneider all come to mind. I reckon there are any number of coaches too, but I just don't know enough about them to say one way or the other. Not to say I really know enough about the players I listed, they just come to mind.

Bruce Irvin, because he sure can't play football LOL.

Actually, In like angry Doug Baldwin. He seems like a guy who could get on a "crusade" and get elected to try and make a difference in his community.

That's why he'd never get elected.

True.
It's a sad indictment of today's version of Democracy, isn't it?

Rott - How are you bro?!

As for office, gotta go with our own RW. Guy has already broken trends and busted myths as our SB winning QB, so I think the sky (or Washington DC) is the limit for our beloved #3.
