I saw Russell's skills in decline just as Hawktawk did, but I thought, and still think, that he has the ability to correct them, but he sure hasn't shown it this season. It was the worst game I've ever seen him play, and I've watched all of them except one. They finally gave up midway through the 4th quarter and put in Rypien.
We gotta root for the Chargers to lose tomorrow night so they don't clinch the wild card too early and have something to play for in their last game with the Donkeys. The Chiefs will put it all on the line next week as they're in a neck-and-neck contest with the Bills for HFA and a first round bye.
Hawktawk wrote:Russ is done and he doesn’t seem to care . Expressionless after being benched . He’s clearly overweight which makes his game pretty close to impossible to play. If 2022 Russ can’t run he’s toast .
Making terrible decisions with the ball . And yeah Geno should have took off yesterday with that open field but at least he put it right on the receivers hands . Russ throws a horrible late pick , careless wtf get me outta here throw.
Russ is young enough and he’s got the experience . Few have ever recovered from this death spiral of a QBs career . If Russ cuts back on the food , hits the gymn hard and starts playing point guard like he used to he can go awhile .
He needs to cancel Monaco and Cabo . Park the Lear jet . Fire Jake Heaps . Close your office . Get off social media . He’s got to want it more than he ever did , work harder then he ever did before . It’s not Hacketts fault . It’s not his teammates or injuries any more then Seattle or most other teams .
Can he get back ? Sure theoretically . Will he ? I’m not sure he’s starting in Denver , next year it’s surely a question . The linemen and Rypien were in some shouting match apparently involving Wilson .
It looked like that great denver defense just quit playing in that game watching little roly poly waddle around throwing it away . I don’t care if you have 160 million and 4 draft picks in the guy . If he can’t play he can’t . It’s like an abusive relationship. It ain’t gettin better . Set his ass down . I hope they don’t this year . If he was serious he would seriously restructure . Good luck . He ain’t coming back . And no sympathy . As Geno said so profoundly “ my hard times would be a dream for someone else “ . After what has come to Russ in the same amount of time no sympathy . As Warren Moon said he asked for this .
Yesterday was rock bottom, a total humiliation. They got absolutely hosed by a very lame Rams club. It was also the worst performance I've ever seen out of Russell, and I agree, he looks wasted, done.
I agree completely that Russell asked for this, maybe even deserved it somewhat, but that doesn't mean we can't have a bit of sympathy for what he's going through. Say what you want about him, but he was a huge part, arguably the biggest part, of what was the best period of Seahawk football ever and was instrumental in giving us our first and only Lombardi. He's a decent, law-abiding guy, doesn't prowl massage parlors, doesn't drive drunk on urban freeways. There's a lot worse personalities out there.
As far as a matter of practicality, it would have been a lot better for us if the Cards would have beaten the Bucs last night. Brady looks almost as bad as Russell, does nothing but check the ball down. His apologists have claimed his performance is related to their lack of a running attack, but they gained 115 yards on the ground. The problem with the Cards is they don't have a QB and would have run them off the field had they had even an average QB. They'll be the worst team to make the playoffs.
Gotta hope that the Chargers lose tonight so they have something to play for in Week 18 vs. the Donkeys.
