IMO people tend to lose part of their identity when they shave their heads. That was part of the rationale for the military requiring shaved heads, to discourage individuality and to make everyone look the same. That and my old man would have given part of his manhood to have had hair, so it's almost a sacrilege to my family values to have the ability to grow hair yet so casually part with it.

and it grows back. lots of athletes go with a buzz cut before a season starts. ( and in Wilsons case it was for a charity, which shouldn't surprise anyone).

I read over at the Blue (and haven't googled it to verify, I'm at work) that his moms best friend just died and that he was staying with his mom.
But I do understand that he's a very private person, and so long as he's not doing it as some sort of protest, I'm OK with it.

it's the third paragraph in the article RD.
That's not to say he couldn't go, but Bob and my posts were indeed accurate. It IS what was reported by Clayton, it IS mentioned in the article, so I'm not sure how you got "it's not true" from there. Just because his Mom thought he was going, or because he told her "he didn't want to go" doesn't mean that there wasn't a valid reason not to go. ( hell Baldwin was on the radio this morning talking about how he had spoken to Marshawn, and he definitely had a valid reason not to attend, as well as Avril who was on honeymoon, and a couple other players that didn't attend).
making a big deal about not attending a ceremony to celebrate how great you are, doesn't come across to me as some sort of mistake without a valid reason, which to me it seems he did.

I read the whole article, HC, and the way I interpreted her comments was that Beast's mom was not claiming Marshawn wasn't going because of the death of a family friend but simply because he didn't want to go. She didn't come out and say it, but if he was staying home because he was still mourning the loss of a friend, it certainly wasn't given as the reason.
I'm not making a big deal of it, and it certainly isn't big enough for either of us to get our briefs in a wad. It's his decision, and I don't think anything less of him because of it.
