I hope Carpenter steps up in a big way. If not, I think they might be looking for more help along the OL again next year.
I think they should be drafting OL early to mid round anyway considering Okung might demand too much and with it being the weakest link on the team.

It's awfully strange that Carpenter had reps at LT. Who knows what is on Carroll's mind, he paints everything as rosy, but it is interesting that numerous media reports and professing how different Carpenter looked and played during OTA's guess he lost 15 pounds, but it looks like 50.

Apparently Irvin underwent hip surgery today and his return date is unknown.

You should write for the Enquirer. Or FOX News ...

He expects to be back for training camp.

What's with all these Hip surgeries the last 2 years?
I don't remember hearing much about these types of surgeries at all until Harvin and now we have 2 more (although much less severe from what we have been told).

Great piece of work HC!
You all know I was NOT an Irvin supporter, but you can't blame him for the hip. It was still a great draft the way it turned out. Would it have really mattered if we had drafted Wilson in the 1st and Irvin in the 3rd. If Pete had he would have been a Genius. The only Genius draft guru was Bill Walsh. My only problem was and still is, that Irvin was not a bona fide first rounder. The disturbing part is how Pete gets locked on to someone in the draft that is average and acts like its his new toy. I guess they all do it. Its like someone posted however, no swim move, no bull rush, no slap, no spin move, come on, this should have been discovered before drafting him as a #1 pick. Donte Hightower was taken later out of Alabama, a much better calculated risk.
At this point even If he is cut this year its too late to say I told you so, especially after being a 2 year starter.

I believe he was drafted for his body type and speed. Pete seems to think he can teach the rest and maybe he can in most cases at this level, so I doubt they cared about swim or spin moves as that wasn't their focus.
As well, the psychological makeup was a big factor. Maybe others like Hightower didn't pass the test from a team fit point of view.
His length and speed was that special quality they desired.
Now let's see if they can really make something out of him.

Sure, they would loved to have been able to wait until the 4th round, but they saw something in him that they thought/think they can use.
At some point you have to make a 1st pick of the draft - they obviously thought he was worth it at the time and that he wouldn't last much longer.
We'll never know how other teams rank the players Seattle takes, so unless he washes out, it's not a bad pick. And we won't know that for a couple more years.

You can say that about every single player taken in the draft.

Yah, so don't worry about where he was selected.
