If the Legion of Boom could borrow fro each other ...

Kam would want some of Sherm's ball skills.

Sherm would want a little of Earls tenacity and a bit of Kam's menace.

Earls fine, he likes his skills just the way they are :)

Sherm's got the biggest mouth, But Earls got the healthiest ego!

(BTW, I agree with all three!)

You're going to have to start tossing in Maxwell at some point. He's definitely the unsung hero, but he did a fantastic job last season.

Each player has their strengths and weaknesses, and the great thing about our secondary is that one player's weakness is made up for by another player's strength. For example, Sherman is a great cover corner, lanky, strong enough to fight for jump balls, great footwork and field awareness, decent against the run, but his major weakness is that he doesn't have the speed to keep up with the top burners in the league. But with Earl having such great lateral coverage and football instincts, can cover for Sherman's one weakness. Earl's major weakness is that he's not always a great tackler, but team him up with Kam, who is a fantastic tackler, and there's not many instances where teams can expose Earl's one weakness.

So...Sherman does 'borrow' Earl's speed and Earl 'borrows' Kam's tackling ability.

That's called teamwork. And Pete seems to as adept at maximizing each players strengths (the same as covering each others weaknesses) as any coach I've ever seen, particularly as it applies to D-backfield play.

Prior to last year, Earl knew his tackling wasn't up to the standards he, or the team expected and he worked on it.
As of last year, I think he was one of the surest tacklers on the team. He rarely missed.

Have to be honest, I'm not positive Maxwell ( as much as I appreciate him) is on this team after this season, not that they won't/or don't want him, just that they have bigger fish to fry and there's a reason they keep drafting and signing corners. With how much money they currently have invested in that secondary, I would think he'll have better offers elsewhere that the Hawks won't be willing ( or able even) to match. Good for him if it shakes out like that, dude deserves a raise.

I agree. Earl didn't whiff on tackles like he did two years ago, and there were some occasions where he put some solid licks on ball carriers. He's still not the snot knocker enforcer that Kam is, but he's definitely improved his game to where it's not a noticeable weakness. Gosh, remember the debates we got into two seasons ago over Earl's tackling? I didn't hear a word this past season.

ET will never be the enforcer type Kam is because of his size, but his tackling technique has improved so much that he doesn't have to have that element in his game.
Besides, that's not his job in this Defense.

Yep, and nor should it ever be. That was the crux of my argument originally. At no point do I want ET to get injured to stop a couple yards.I'm happy it improved, but I would forgo that for a healthy Thomas each and every game for the rest of his career.

I wasn't looking for highlight reel, snot knocker hits like what Kam delivers. What I wanted was for him not to get completely faked out of his jock strap by guys like Jay Cutler, and it would appear that he's done that.

Rarely do we have a consensus on a subject like this. This ain't no fun!
