Harbaugh is clumsy and out of place in front of a camera. It just isn't his bag. If I were that unsure of myself, I'd recruit a stand in, too, probably pay him to do it.

Of course I know nothing, so this is only a fan's poop. But, I do know for sure that I am most happy to have señor Carroll as the head coach. Harbaugh seems to be leading with a sense of the frantic, while Carroll has a feel for the system.
I apologize in advance for this rant, but there is a qualitative difference between our head coach and that of the Niners, that reflects definitely in the response of the players. It was amazing to see our team play at a midseason level in this game against the Bears. Almost no penalties, crisp offense, stifling defense, excellent special teams. Meanwhile, our main rival, San Fran, is failing to score, is looking sad, and Is trying to make scary faces.

Sorry, I've had 3 gin and tonics.

Lol!! To read this post you'd never know this team averaged 12 wins the past 3 yrs. "No sense of direction . . Everybody's sad". Why apologize? You probably echoed the thoughts of most in your region.

Are you suggesting the 49ers have looked good this preseason?

I will worry if our entire first team O prepares for a revular season game and can't perform. They've added a lot on O, guys like V. McDonald are coming into their own, and they've only lost 1 gaurd (potentially). I don't see any way that they are not better than the O that was putting yds and pts on the road agaunst the Cards and Panthers' Ds to end the yr.
I know they reprtedly ran no huddle and multiple formations last game. I don't know that any team is prepared for that on D in the preseason.

I don't put a lot of stock into preseason records, either. We went 4-0 in the Mora year, the worst year this franchise has had since Behring owned the team. Nevertheless, I'd much rather look in sync and ready for the regular season rather than the opposite. There have been occasions where teams looked great in the preseason and it carries right over into the regular season like it did for us in 2012 and 2013 where we went 4-0 and 3-1 respectively. I'm just saying that if it were me, I wouldn't be quite so cavalier about my team's problems as you appear to be, especially when you contrast it to the way the Hawks have looked.

I wouldn't say I am cavalier. I am just rejecting the recurring mantra that we are on the decline. I hear this literally every yr. And every preseason I hear this exact same thing.
I base my opinion on talent, history and what happened duting the actual games. A lot of people are drawing conclusions bssed upon a sliver sample size. Our QB is way down the list of passes attempted in the preseason by starting QBs. Other than the last game, our first team Oline has been great in run blocking. Hard to draw a real concludion of our pass game, and I guess our run game looks good. But I am not going to be like everyone else and take the obvious, surface level position - on football or anything in life. There is no way to tell anything about the type of team we'll be from this preseason.
I am not worried about Seattle because they are not my team. I'll watch Thursday because that is going to be a great game snd they are our division rival. Other than that I don't really care what they've done in preseason.

That's not to say they'll suddenly crash to a sub .500 team (though there is also that capacity) but i do not believe they will ever be a better team, under this administration, than the one they fielded last year. They may well still win it all (the only reason they didn't last year was us) and they may still be a formidable opponent for a good while, but on the decline? I think so; when you're as good as they have been the last 3 years with such a volatile coach and a divided front office, I don't think they can maintain that level of play for long.

I thought that the Niners would implode last season to be surpassed by the Rams and for awhile, it looked like that might happen after we clobbered them in the opener and the Colts beat them on their home field. I'm not quite as cocky with my implosion forecast this season, especially now that Bradford has gone down, meaning there's one less team to pose a serious challenge.
I wish we got them early instead of both games coming in the 2nd half of the season. They might be getting off to a slow start again this year while we're looking like gang busters.
I'm not sure about the rest of you guys, but I can't wait until Thursday.

Hell. I am almost excited as you for Thursday. Sonetimes I wonder if I had a choice to watch all 17 weeks of the yr in 17 straight days but lose 4 months of my life if I would take it. I was honestly wondering about that last night.

They are playing one of, if not the worst defense in the NFL and everybody will be talking about how dynamic their offense is going to be this year again. The reality will probably be somewhere in the middle though; much better than the preseason would indicate but not as good as they will look in week 1.
