On offense the same problem remains - Our Line cannot establish a pocket for protection. Everything we get on passing plays are the results of Russell WIlson legs and Play Making ability. He probably gave the Cardinal Coaching staff and fans some serious fits of anger.
Nice win - sets things up beautifully for a special Thursday night.

So nice to see.
Even with Palmer and Fitzgerald out, to hold AZ to 3 points is still a solid accomplishment.
Meanwhile, yes, our offense needs work.
OL looked like krap on too many plays, and we blew red zone chances once again early, coming away with 3 fg's (and one blocked) before getting game clinching TD, Finally, late in 3rd qt.
Pass protection is killing this offense, honestly, along with some stubborn (and dumb) calls by Bevell, mixed in with good run blocking here and there and Darrell pulling his head out just enough to assist in victory.
We are far from the team of 2013, but overall this win was very encouraging going into TNF on Thanksgiving.
Make no mistake - this is going to be a Tough Game, even though the 49ers did not look good today vs a poor Washington squad. We have our work cut out for us, particularly with only 3 days to prepare.
We cannot have a day off. We must get ready asap for yet another crucial divisional matchup.
We need win to control destiny. The Lions are slipping, but we can't count on help from them or anybody else. The Packers got lazy, but still won, and now are winning the North. Go NYG tonight, but I don't expect much, lol.
Get Ready for Thursday!
Go Seahawks!!!
Zorn76 wrote:Future - Both offenses are struggling for sure. We should have won todays game 27-6 or so. Az did miss a fg, and we had one blocked.
The game will be a dog fight coming up, IMO, and could be a bore with potential FG match. Final score could look more like a Giants game at ATT Park:)
Both teams are determined, and both want to control destiny for WC. I still think AZ gets division, but who knows.
It will make for a great Holiday.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Go Seahawks!!!

I only saw the 15% that NFL Red Zone showed, but I got it... No O line, No Protection and a bad-ass, (where have you been for 10 weeks) D.

Too often Wilson is holding the ball still waiting for someone to flash wide open, well after he either should have thrown it, or run. I have to think a big part of that is the play calling though, it's the same as the play calling I saw from Bevell when he was in Minnesota, and Favre openly rebelled against his lousy play calling. His style hasn't changed at all, and it works VERY well for certain things, like grinding out T.O.P. with a lead for example, but the passing game is definitely suffering from the play calling.
At least four times an unblocked defender either got a sack or pressure or otherwise caused a play to come to a bad ending, directly because Wilson didn't adjust the protection in the face of the blitz. I have to think that a big part of that is the loss of Unger, but Wilson MUST do a better job of identifying unblocked defenders and changing the line call to pick that up.
Having said all of that, I love me some Russell Wilson! If it weren't for him, we'd have no offense at all right now. We need to get a big target receiver in the off season SO BADLY! In fact, if you ask me, we actually may need two, one at WR and especially, one at TE.

Like how you are 15 min from downtown Seattle and can see the skyscrapers, but you are away drom the hustle and bustle. We also like the views of the mountains and the coffee shops. If I moved up to the PNW I think I'd give that city a go first. If it felt too pretentious, Capitol Hill/First Hill would be my second stop.

Hi Futureite...long time! Been busy with our first baby. Boy. He's already got a #3 Wilson jersey, of course.
Hawktown wrote:I love me some #3 but i am wondering if he has failed to change blocking strategies at the line. Those defenders had a straight line to him quite a bit in the game. Is this on wilson not moving protection or is he supposed to just go with the play called and run with it. pardon the run with it pun.

Blocking "strategies" don't get changed at the line pre-snap. Strategies are on the coaching staff. I think you're talking about adjustments ...
The QB can change the plays at the line, and certainly can (and better) be able to recognize and use hot reads, both based on what he sees from the defense pre-snap, but the QB don't change blocking assignments. On the O-line blocking adjustments are the Center's job. The QB can point out what he see's to his back or call in his TE to an H-back position if he sees something, but up front it's on the Center.
Which is why we are a much better O-line with Max in there, it's a bigger difference with and without him than just his blocking accounts for.
