RiverDog wrote: Good point. This seems like pure speculation to me. Of course, any player's contract offer will depend on their performance, and Russell is no different. But this report is hinting that our FO is still not convinced he's our QBOTF.

If for whatever reason they attempted to bring Wilson back on his rookie deal next year I would expect and support him holding out. If 3 years of what we have witnessed isn't proof he is a star I dont know what would be. Pay the man.
I'd be more worried about Russell's willingness to stay with us than I would be about our FO being undecided about whether or not to extend his contract.

Thoughts? I call BS!!!

I feel really foolish now for doubting they would defeat both the Cardinals and the Whiners all within 5 days. I understand they had a series of team meetings that got all of the bad air out of the locker room. Good for them, great for us.
Wilson was finally able to get the ball down field, something he had not done on a consistent basis for most of the season. The down side to that is that none of those down field throws came from the pocket, they were thrown on the run. Until RW can demonstrate that he can consistently complete passes down the field, especially over the middle, from the pocket there are going to be questions about his game. While I wish he could throw down field as well as Drew Brees I also don't want him to throw 400+ yards in a losing effort like Brees did the other day. There has to be balance. A better line and better receivers would help, of course, and throw in better play calling by the OC wouldn't hurt either.
It was said that RW the last two games was more patient with his receivers, allowing them to run their routes before taking off scrambling. Myself, I didn't notice him scrambling until he had to so I don't know what to think of the "Wilson as been more patient" theory.
I know I was out of line to blame Wilson's height on his inability to throw the ball over the middle from the pocket. But, I was exasperated at the lack of production he was generating with his arm as opposed to his feet. I love the guy, I always will but it sounds like even his coaches were concerned too, though, they were not going to throw the baby out with the bath water as was I.
